On my 96 with the 3.4l I've started to notice when its cold the truck gives more resistance while driving than when warm.

For example this morning it was in the 30s and on my way to work id take myfoot off the gas and the truck would decelerate quicker than normal.

I feels like my alignment is way off, i have bad bearings or the tires are extremely low.

Ive checked all of the above and all is as it should be. In addition on my way home it warmed up and is back to normal. Doea anyone have any suggestions or had anything similar?

Caliper also has less than 1k miles on them. Not saying to rule it out yet but unlikely. Also would temp change have an effect on whether it was sticking?

Sticking parking brake. Try not using them after car warms up and is back to normal. Drive again next morning when it's cold and not having used it for the night. Just a suggestion :fingerscrossed:

Most often the bell cranks seize from not being used .

I use the parking brake all the time no issues with them yet

I have already had mud freeze and cause interesting things thaws out and falls off.

Cold weather can cause fluids to be thicker tires to have flat spots till they warm up

I am used to the normal for my truck so only pick up on different new things

Thing is did you smell any hot brakes ??

This... Hasn't happened to me in my Tacoma, but I have a ford escort that any time it's below freezing the parking brake will freeze on, not enough to lock the tires up, but enough to cause serious resistance for a few miles. That's the first thought I'd have

my 99 4runner did this when the park brake bell cranks seized

the brakes stuck and it ran like I was in part time 4wd when
starting out. once down the road and the brakes got hot (but not burning so I could smell it)
    it ran much better.

No smell at all. My work is only ten miles up the road so it doesnt get a whole lot of time to warm up. Enough though to smell some burning brakes though.

Only issue with this theory is i have an auto and rarely ever use the e brake/parking brake. Thanks for the idea though.

    it's easy enough to check
crawl under there and see if you can move them
by yanking the cable or move by hand

if you cannot make them move by direct touch or
    yanking cable...they are geetered

    Geetered
A condition that appears when one is high as hell on Methamphetamine. It usually peaks after being high and awake for two or more days. Much like OCD but drug induced the subject will become intensely focused on tasks such as cleaning, organizing and reorganizing their belongings, "fixing things" that are not broken, and masturbating to pornography. Sometimes these tasks will take place simultaneously and continue for days. The geetered party will move around quickly from project to project in a back and forth jerky motion much like a chicken pecking in a barnyard sometimes talking to themselves or making strange clucking/whistling noises. The condition is not permanent and can be reversed with a nap, a meal and a few days rest.

But yea...It moves just fine. Checked on it about an hour ago. But it is warm right now so it was rolling just fine.

Fellas I think I'm gonna chalk this one up to one of those mysteries that don't have a solution and just be pissed at the cold that much more lol.

Is your transmission shifting into high gear when cold?
That would cause the drag when off the gas.
