Obviously since I'm in Texas and they are required here that came to mind. One could simply trim the lower 'legs' on the factory plate holder so it doesn't hit the hawse but that won't get it out of the way for winch usage too well. So yeah... it's on my mind and something we will find a solution to. Typically I'd say go with the Quadratec mount http://www.quadratec.com/products/12107_0912.htm
and that may well work but as it's at such a shallow angle and our hawse has a larger opening then I'd say... probably not.

We will come up with something...

And as usual, I'm sure we will offer some sort of group buy/pre-sell deal to everyone on TW prior to the first batch.

Final CAD is done. Estimated weight via Solid Works is 62 lbs WITH the hawse and brackets, so about 56 lbs bare which I am VERY happy with.

Trying hard to get a production grade prototype out next week as well as final pricing.

Group buy sounds fantastic. Are you accepting pre-orders?

Not yet. Once we have our test fitment knocked out I will open up preorders via a group buy.

Test fit of production prototype set for January 13th.

Price is holding at $499 + shipping.

Our new Big Mouth hawse is set for production and hope to have protos to test along with the bumper on the 14th.

Once we conduct this test fit as long as there are no major issues we will then schedule it for immediate production. I will likely open up preorders about a week after the test fit if all is good.

I've added a placeholder for it in our online store as well. https://www.usoffroad.us/store/bumpers/toyota-tacoma-2016-2017-winch-mount/

    Couple additional thoughts:

If feasible once available, it'd be a great help to cite particular winch models that are easy-fits.

Also, any limitations on light bars mounted in the below-grill gap?

Certainly. One thing we did was design every single vertical inch from the base of the tub to the bracket directly above the winch, behind the grille.

As you can see with the attached photo and the Engo winch it's a no go for the box to fit under the bracket. The new Engos will mount center or side and some winches mount over the motor side as well (like our Mean Mother winches). However, we didn't want to create work for our customers so we created a universal box mount bracket and several slots on the end of the winch tub (second drawing) so you can mount just about any box as you wish without extending cable.

Basically, any winch up to 12,000lbs with a standard 10" x 4.5" bolt pattern will fit. You will need to use synthetic rope as a roller fairlead will not mount up without sticking out pretty far and at an undesirable angle.

As you can see in the third drawing there is quite a bit of room on that end of the winch tub. (ignore the ComeUp winch, it's the only one we have in CAD)

We are working with another well known customer grille manufacturer to give you a light mounting option in the grille above the bumper along with access holes to access the winch controls.

Been waiting on something from you guys for a while. Y'all are very well known in my group. 2 things.

    1. Are you going to create skids (tranny & transfer) that mate up with this.

    2. Combo package?

    PS...sub'd

We appreciate it and apologize for the wait, just wanted to do this right.

We have discussed doing other skids. This one goes down to the subframe right under the radiator so most engine skids stop there.

Yes, we will offer some combo packages, just like we do in our current lineup, with winches from every line we carry that work well in this config. Certainly Mean Mother, Engo, Warn and some ComeUp.
