    Not going to be able to get much shorter without going SBR/pistol. Shortest you can get without hassle or a forearm brace is a 14.5" with a 1.5" permanently attached.

    That is a 16". anything shorter either requires a tax stamp or has to be a pistol.

    To get a "short as legal" rifle, you can also run a 16" barrel with a fake suppressor that adds no length to the overall barrel length. Like this one...
