    People seem to think it's a privacy thing. With the right resources, you can pull the drivers info as well as the location it's registered, but only Law Enforcement, DMVs, and various other government agencies have access to it. It really is a waste of time to do it, unless you have some ultra expensive or rare car that someone may want to track down and steal.
