It's a work in progress. See my build thread.
So... Christmas has been cancelled at my house. Which is good and bad. Wife is sick (bad), and we were hosting, but the general consensus that it is best for her to not make everyone else sick.

    So...
    No Prime Rib (bad)
    No In-laws (not so bad)
    No daughter (bad)
I get to watch my Steelers without interruption (good)
And the weather should be nice, so I'll try to get that light bar installed (good)

I guess I should be more upset, but my daughter works at the same place I work, so I get to see her every day.

Thanks. It's just a nasty cold, so she'll be fine.

Morning everyone and happy TGIF !!!

Another cold windy and rainy day here with the heavier rain only a few hours away . Got my place cleaned up and in presentable condition for my Brother when he shows up later this afternoon

Wow almost five pages of gabbing even before 0445hrs my time , you guys had a lot to talk about LOL !!! . at one point I thought I was in the 60 or maybe 70 yr old thread LOL !!!

Also this talk about 4wd and the hassle for locking hubs ...... Sheeez !!! , some of these 4wd trucks of ours are like. a Cadillac compared to what I used to refer to as a daily driver 4wd that I took on trails

Here's some of the items or equipment I had in my last 3 daily driver jeep rock crawlers

    Spools front /rear

Drive flanges or warn gold locking hubs for the front

Full floater rear axle with drive flanges or warn gold locking hubs

Doubler or custom low geared t/cases with twin sticks and ability to lock or unlock power to either front or rear axles

    Cutting brakes

1/4 elipitical rear spring with floating rear shackles

Front spring set up with floating shackle and buggy spring

    38" minimum tire size

Yep this was a real 4wd that was daily driven !!

Panamint Valley days was a fun 4wd event put on by CA4WDC .some of these trails were guaranteed body or mechanical damage to your jeep . the weather was awesome and every morning you got a free air show by military aircraft from China Lake NWS buzzing the campsite at 0530hrs

Twin fuel tanks with (4) gas cans on the custom made Jamboree rack . That would give me 35 gallons capacity . but downside was the engines were all similar to my Camaro with right around 475 /500hp sbc motors . the gearing was usually 5:38or lower so 3800 rpm cruise at 60 mph wasn't uncommon

My old 47 CJ2A Flat Fender had a 475hp sbc stroker motor in it and when a hill climb was difficult I would open up my conferr storage box . this was where the Nitrous bottle was , nothing like a little 200 shot of Smurf juice to get over an obstacle

They gave us 3 but only for today. So, since today is my scheduled day off, us on 4/10's don't get the 3 hours off. But I also have a 4 day week end and I did a bunch of OT for the pay period so I'm good.

My schedule is Monday thru Thursday. But I rarely stick to it. Fridays are pretty much normal (@ time and a half), Saturdays are not uncommon (@ time and a half plus differential) and most holidays (@ double). A lot of 10 hour days turn into 11,12 or 13's depending on what it is. They give me the decision pretty much unchecked on how many hours I put in and I base it on the need. I'm not going to stop a job or project when there's only an hour or so of work to do when the project is 2 hours travel time away. Or if I have a piece of equipment rented I'm going to get the rental cost out of it. I know that's not how some people envision a fed to work, but that's how I work. Get it done, get it all and move onto the next item.

...and I'm not one to just sit and burn the clock either. I do like my down time.

I used to work a 4/10 schedule plus being on call 24/7 wore my ass out fast !! . I was a Diesel mechanic and I was driving all over Socal , San Diego , Palm Springs , Imperial Valley and even as far North as Fresno

I would be out in the Central Valley and then get a Service call in Palm Springs
