Went to work Wednesday evening without any problems. Pulling out of work Thursday morning, truck started fine, went into reverse without issues, shifted to drive without issue. Once it hit 15mph it shut down, CEL came on, would not go past 10mph and the light came on saying I was pushing the brake the same as the accelerator. I'm sure that wasn't the issue. Also, gas cap was snug and secure. Thankfully I had not made it to the interstate. ToyotaCare was contacted and towed my vehicle without charge to the nearest dealership.

Being the holiday weekend, the service department didn't look at my truck on Thursday and are closed until 12/26/16. Five days with no vehicle. The dealership said they would not provide a rental until they knew what was wrong with my truck. The transmission has been shift happy but service has said that was normal for this truck. I have a large bubble on the hood from the clear coat. The Entune system has shut off with a complete loss of power while driving without reason.

From past experiences, how do you guys think this will work out? Is it a quick fix computer patch? Something major that will take a while? Why would Toyota not provide me with a rental since it is under warranty, especially since it is Christmas weekend?

    Too few to list.
Dealerships don't usually provide rentals until they know for sure it's warranty work for the truck. If it turns out that it was user error, the rental would come out of pocket for them. Good dealerships will provide rental regardless of warranty related or not though.

Can't believe they didn't provide a courtesy vehicle that's not right. I'm not saying I'm aware they have too, I just think that would be the right thing to do.

I know some owners have the same issue and has had the crank positioning sensor go bad. Also if it's under warranty the dealer regardless if it comes out to be user error has to give a rental. Atleast that's what mine I worked at did and still does.

As bad as I hate to admit it, the quality of the Wrangler I traded in seems to be higher. I just hope they can get it fixed soon so maybe I can try to trade and move on.

This seems like an over reaction. If there is an issue, let it be fixed and go from there. If there are consistent problems after this then maybe. But having something go wrong (something not unique to a 3rd gen Tacoma) and then trade it right away seems like a silly way to go.

You should have got a rental. If you complain to the operations manager, I bet next time you will get a rental quickly.

You don't have to own one to understand the 'growing pains' of the new model year vehicle going around on TW.

    Fake news and hearsay?

You own one? I do and it's been problematic. Some don't have as many issues. Some do.

its a Toyota truck and that's all the modifications needed
would having the Light on dash saying that the accelerator and brake were being pushed at the same time would equal a CPS failure? on folks who had real CPS failures did this same light illuminate? pretty premature to call it a CPS failure based on the fact that the truck was in limp mode because there was a signal was given that the brake pedal and accelerator were being pushed at the same time

So if he didn't buy a dud, and the third gen is a dud, the what do we call the 2016 Tacoma he bought?

OP, I would have gotten a rental and sent Toyota Corp the bill.
