The WRAF sensors (AFR) on the 2nd Gens, are wide band. Wideband Ratio Air Fuel sensors. Unplugging them will make the truck stay in open loop continuously.

There are other aftermarket ecus which can tune. Some plug n play, and some that require a plug n play extension harness, I.E. standalones.

I have a Haltech Elite 2500 with a plug n play harness from Boomslang, waiting to go in.

www.urdusa.com has their own UCON engine management system.

They also sell extension harnesses for the '05+.

As well as the Map-Ecu 3. It however, does not remove the TB top speed governor.

It will work in closed loop, the problem is It will only correct to 14.7 below 2800 RPM...
You can cheat in a little more fuel but you are stuck with the factory settings.
It looks like the stock tune allows 12/1 above 2800 RPM.

So the the only problem is your part throttle below 2800 RPM...

But you can correct for mods that lean out the fuel and fix the over rich open loop.
SO you can correct for intakes, exhaust and headers but you are limited to the factory maps.

URD makes some products and I think they have a plug and play harness for 08 and older.
That would be my top choice but I have a 2010.

The unichip has the ability to read other sensors but I don't think there is any support on how to set it up.

I don't know if the super charger reflash changes the low rpm FA ratio.

But for a turbo set up I would call URD and see what they have.

This is what I would like to know too.

Or what Magnuson's Bully Dog map does?

How about URD UCON? It can change everything in the closed loop, not trying to reach 14.7 (lambda 1)?

The UCON controls in closed loop continually. Not exactly what it is called, but that is what it is doing. Just like a standalone.

The reflash is sometimes hit or miss. It still reacts similar to the OEM tune, except it has been adjusted for larger injectors. Dyno runs have proven that it still maintains a 14.. ish AFR for a longer time than a professional tuner would desire.

Is this true? OP, what you think, you have used the program. Not even with the turbo module?

You can map closed loop to within the limitations of the factory map...

So below 2800 RPM at part throttle you are stuck with 14.7/1 at low rpm but you can correct for intakes exhaust and other mods.

You can cheat in a little extra fuel buy running negative trims.

So you can get back to 14.7 but that is right on the lean side, 14 to 13 in this range would be better...

Any experience of this? I still wondering should I buy the Unichip Turbo Module and Tuning Software or focusing to UCON...

You can't change maps with UCON by switch? Only by laptop files which are got from URD, right? So, if I'd want to run E85 AND 95E10, I can't use UCON?

You could, you'd just need mapsfrom them for those fuels.

^ But not without a computer? Like A/B switch which is included in Unichip?

It would be by USB stick. You'd have to plug it in, instead of flipping a switch. Unless they have since added a switch, which I doubt.
