because i do a decent amount of off road related stuff i get good deals on all sorts of stuff like lockers axles tires and what not so i can buy the RCV's for right around $1,700 shipped with taxs and all but i just didn't want the hassle of maintaining them.

As far as grease goes I have some kick ass stuff that i ordered from Jess at high angle drive lines when ordered my altas and drive line parts from him. Ill just end up using that stuff.

that price on the RCVs is significantly cheaper than anything I saw at the time when I was shopping. Man, you get some awesome deals on a lot of stuff!! Good envy over here :D

I just have whatever grease came with the shafts as a kit. What kind of grease did you get specifically? Maybe I'll go with that stuff next

I don't remember what grease it was but i know it wasn't cheap and Jess said it's the only grease he wants run in his ujoints.

As for the deals well it's nice to work in a shop that does off road related stuff and has accounts with a lot of the off road companies.

So that grease was called pro long but after doing research I need to mix it with the super joint grease because they serve different purposes. Here's the difference.

Chromoly axles are working great. But one of the hubs doesn't quite clear the axle. So I can't unlock it unless I'm turned to full steering lock

That's a hell on a twist on that top shaft  The bottom one on the pic grenated itself pretty good:D

Does the shaft in the middle has the "pro long" grease on it? (trying to understand the connection between the pics and your explanation of the grease)

You are going through some good amount of snow there:p So weird about the hubs, don't think i had issues with mine...though now that I think about it, one is a bit harder to unlock than the other. Probably needs some lubrication

Yeah the prolong grease is in the super joints. As far as the hubs are concerned it seems the stub shaft on the passenger side is longer and actually contacting the hub

Interesting. are those chromo shafts from Yukon? that's probably one of the best companies to deal with from a customer service perspective (my experience at least). I'm sure they can send you another one.

Do most you guys run factory oem seats? My recent boughtnotbuilt 1st gen came with Master Craft Nomads. I'm looking to change them out.

No a seat swap is mandatory to get a solid axle to work in a toyota, your spring bearings will interfere with the seat rails if you dont. I switched to milk crates.

My main issues was the swing rod coming off the spring bearing housing was contacting the seat rails. I could have bent the rod, but then my jackerman angle would have been less than ideal leading to inverse axle wraping. The milkcrate seat swap fixed all that, frame strength was an added bonus.

Would anyone happen to know the weight and the worth of some 94 (FJ80) land cruiser open axles?

I paid 375 for a complete rear open lx470 (fj80) out of a junkyard here. As far as weight, uhhh heavy as fuck.

Im looking to build a tracker based buggy with them, Planning on 150hp/tq, manual, 6.5 Tcase, either these FJ80 axles or 8" toy centers with diamond housings for width, and a set of 37" stakes. Trying to stay below 2500LBS with it. Found a set of these for $1000 with the steering and radius arms (yes I will use factory front radius arms and run full hydro behind the axle like stock).

Just trying to decide if these will fit in with my weight goals and if they are worth the $1000.

I have a friend running 40s on them on an fj80 land cruiser, so you should be ok strength wise.

I think some guys keep factory seats in multi-purpose rigs because custom racing seats and similar can be incredibly uncomfortable for long road trips. Having said that, I am doing research to get some custom bucket seats and custom harness. But it will take a long while before I do it cause I want to research the options carefully enough to find what I really like.

That moment when guys running toyota axle complain about how heavy they are lol. Try wontons and then we can talk about heavy axles :D

Yea, anything and everything can be done. There's always that somebody that runs big ass tires on toyota axles without major carnage. Personally, I would not run anything bigger than 37" on built toyota axles. Anything bigger than that is just a gamble each time you wheel.

My argument is always the same. Toyota axles are a money spending trap. Unless you can build them absolutely free, I see not point in dumping $$$ on them.
