There is a Costco near my house and that is where we always fill up. Consistently the best price around and it is a Top Tier detergent gasoline licensed brand just like the big boys who charge 50 cents more per gallon.

Fine, all Offroad 4x4 models. Didn't think I would have to change it for the one person on this planet that actually bought a prerunner Offroad model.

Basically its for people with ATRAC.

I already brew my own coffee :hattip:

You can always default to filling it with premium. As I mentioned, I'm at high altitude and right now it's winter so I could probably get away with 88 in the tank without any ill effects.

It's a good idea to keep a bottle or two of octane booster in the truck anyway in case you find yourself in the sticks and there's no premium at the one pump for 150 miles.

And just don't let your wife drive your truck - that problem is solved :D

She doesn't drive it, but I make my vehicles wife-ready. There's always a chance that SHTF and the need might arise for her to get in and roll. This is the mother of my children. I'm a mechanic and I see to it that my lady can just get in and go in whatever vehicles we own.

Stock air box with Afe filter back in. Now time for a test drive. The Toyota tech ruined the oring putting the maf sensor back in the urd intake. Had to run to the car parts store to get a replacement. And yes I made sure it was properly seated when I did the initial urd intake install. I really wanted the urd to work and still have a hard time accepting that's the problem but we shall see. Thanks for all the great feedback!

In a pinch, you can use some RTV sealant around the MAF o-ring to make sure it seals. Just give it plenty of time (like overnight) for it to dry before starting the engine. Permatex Ultragrey works. My AFe MAF hole didn't seal as well as I would've liked so I added some RTV just to make sure.

The truck seems to be driving much better. Hauls ass if I must say. No more high rpm leaning out. The check engine light did come back on but I'm guessing the ecu needs time to relearn the maf location.

Would 40417 work instead of 40480 (included in the Magnuson kit)? What's the difference instead of the file?

Is the 40480 like 40410 but with pre-installed SC file? https://www.bullydog.com/support/kn...7-gt-platinum-and-the-40410-50-state-legal-gt

Could you justify? Bully Dog's site says 40417 "works great" in supercharged Tacoma:

    Not CARB legal though.

If you are adding a supercharger and have an NA tune you need the 40480.

If you have a TRD flash from the dealer you can probably use the 40417.

AFAIK the 40417 does not change an NA Tacoma into a SC Tacoma. Just call Bully Dog if you need sales support.

I don't have a 40417 to test, but it is my understanding that only the 40480 is able to download Magnuson files.

The 40480 cannot use a custom tune, not even from a Bully Dog dealer. This is according to a phone call I had with Bully Dog.

I honestly have no clue if I have a TRD flash or a Bully Dog flash based on the issues I had initially with the Bully Dog tune not working correctly combined with a trip to the dealer after which the truck began running fine. The dealer claimed they were unable to flash it, but it ran great after I left.

With the above said, mine tries to stay at stoichiometric until I mash the throttle further and get the rpms up. At lighter throttle it will sometimes have around 4 lbs of boost in the manifold but AFR stays at stoichiometric. At that point I don't hear any pinging or percieve anything unusual going on. But once I give it some more beans, it happily shoots more juice in and AFR jumps to 11-12.

I think my current tune (whatever it is) has a lot of room for improvement.

That kinda sounds like what mine is doing login.

I don't understand why the 40480 tuner couldnt load a custom tune if the tune was made by BD.
Couldnt they just email it and upload it using the update agent?

Login, I can't remember. Have you done the fuel pump upgrade? That's the next variable to eliminate.
