You need to open your diff and tighten all bolts. I did the same thing with a lame breather. It backed out some bolts on the case that lead to a leak. Unknown to me the pressures backed out bolts in my ring gear also that lead to a full 3rd member failure including scarred case so I couldn't use it as a core for swap.

You choice but if I knew then what I know now I would have had someone pull it apart and check everything.

I'm confused. Any pressure build up is gonna blow a seal, not back bolts out. Are you sure the problem wasn't an assembly problem with the secondary issue being the breather?

What seal? The hard metal ones at the end of the axles? Or the non existant one of the 3rd member case?

So the three lower bolts on my case backed out because of the pressure and banging. I moved from a accordion breather (similar to a clogged breather) to a arb breather. When I lost most of my fluid on a trail I went to remove the fill plug and there was a big pressure difference as it equalized. And later I lost my rear because half of the 12 bolt seats in the ring gear backed out until one sheared off.

Now this all may be a series of random events, but I wish I knew to have my 3rd member checked after the pressure issue because the pressure inside can have a lot of fun with the gears also. I would have saved myself $2500 of stock swap.

Pics of the carnage. You can see the sheared bolt and the marks on the other bolts backing out.

Try to get a regear 3rd member without a core and overnight. Nope I just threw away $2500 for a stock 3rd and still no regear...

I have my front and rear diff ran to this, also plan to run both my transfer cases to it. Has a nifty catch can and drain if you over fill.

I plan on replacing it with this at some point...

    https://www.iimuch.com/collections/fuel-differential-vents/products/fuelvent2

Accepts 4 separate lines and is a vent that will not allow backflow so it could be submerged.

It blew 35 miles down a snow filled mountain road near Quincy, I was stuck there for a few days waiting for the 3rd to get into Reno. Nitro didn't have the Amazon prime 4.56 for 8inch only 8.4. Or I may have regeared with the new 3rd.

Just seems like a pressure build up shouldn't back bolts out. And if it were that high, I'd expect it to push out past the axle seals.[/QUOTE]

Those lanes are f'd up. VTA arbitrarily decides these will make traffic flow more smoothly and that it will generate a huge amount of revenue...
