For all you guys who have replaced front speakers , where did you put the crossover?

mine are in the mail , was told to not install them in the doors.

no biggie to wire run new wire as i might want to install a amp in the future so i could loop the wires to one of the cubby's behind the seat for future.

    just curious on your opinions.

Run new wire. You can put them in the doors but it is not a good idea, plus toyota makes it easy to run wire to the door.

With the exception of the plastic runner along the door sill, I'd like to know where you ran your wires through the cab to the doors.

Looked up under there and it is a tight fit trying to get to the rubber grommet/tubing that runs to the door. Did you remove a bunch of the dash to gain access to it or just cuss and bitch while trying to do it blind?

In a weekend or two I've gotta run some wire off my front stage amp to the door speakers and I'm not looking forward to it.

A lift, some wheels, some tires, some performance, some cosmetic and then audio.
I managed to squeeze my JL Audio XR crossovers in the front kick panels and rear panels.

Ya, if you're going to add an amp later anyways then take the time to run new wires to the back wall. Further, I'd run the amp wires back there at the same time while you've got all the plastic runners and such removed. Obviously, just don't wire to the battery yet. You'll be prepped and ready to go for expansion later.

I removed all the plastic from the rear of mine and built a simple amp rack myself. I've done everything carefully so that I can put it all back to stock if I ever want to.

And today, there are no passive crossovers anyways... :D

Yeah, I built that piece myself using MDF and attached it to the ********* box.

I had the plastic removed at first but I also need to use the back of the seat at times so I cut a hole in the shape of the sub because it was rubbing when the seat was all the way folded down.

In this pic the sub was rubbing the seat but I have since moved the box back a good 1" and have no more rubbing.

OP, you were told not to install them in the doors... I wonder why? That's where I had planned to put mine...but now I am re-thinking.

More moisture in the doors than inside the cabin. Plus repeated opening and closing the doors subjects them to excessive forces.

I squeezed them under the drivers seat right by my amp. Also ran all wiring from amp to xOver to speakers. No problems, no regrets

Well since this is a 6 year old thread...Probably anyone who put them in the doors 6 years ago can let us know if they've had any moisture issues :)
