Starting a Build Thread...and BS of course

Alright I guess since I started to mod the Yota I should probably create my own thread to show it off talk about my experiences with it, and of course my adventures/misadventures.
Started on the day after Christmas 2015 when I bought a 2013 Tacoma TRD Sport 4x4 in mint condition with only 30k miles on the clock

Was originally shopping for a 4runner trail edition, so wasn't sure I had made the right decision despite owning a 1st Gen 1997 Ext cab v6 4x4 5spd manual Tacoma while I went to college. It only took a couple of days to fall in love with my Tacoma and know I made the right decision, but I also knew I was going to have to make this thing completely my own and stock just wasn't going to cut it.
This decision is what brought me to Tacoma World and the abundance of knowledge, tips, trips and trial and errors. I can't thank you guys enough for this site and helping decide on exactly what I wanted to do.
After weeks of non stop searching, reading, and comparing I finally settled on a complete 3" Old Man Emu kit with 885x coils 1/4" top spacer, full dakar rears, sport shocks, LR UCA's, and ext rear brake lines. A big shout out again to Head Strong Off Road I highly recommend any members shopping for Tacoma stuff to check these guys out. Service was excellent communication was the best I've ever had with an online store, thank you so much for that Marie, and shipping was lighting fast

Then I needed to decide on wheels and tires. Wheels were a no brainer. SCS SR8's, done! These wheels are gorgeous, light, and provide the perfect back spacing for Tacomas. Due to 17" Matte Dark Bronze selling out in a week I went with 16's, absolute great decision by the way. SCS was another amazing company to deal with, with fast shipping and no problems what so ever with the transaction. Tires were proving to be a little more of a problem. I really had my heart set on ST Maxx 255/85/16's again due to the great reviews provided on this site. Unfortunately/ fortunately they are on national back order. My discount tire rep then turned my attention to the BFG KO2 in a 285/75/16 which he had for $200 a piece, SOLD. This combo came out perfect, the KO2 is light and been getting great reviews for off road and on road performance, not to mention I was a huge fan of the original KO's.

All that was left was install. Since all my tools were recently stolen from my carport installing the suspension myself was going to be out of the question so I took it to my local 4x4 shop, "The 4x4 Shop." Guys there took a little longer than expected but overall did and excellent job. I was especially happy with the alignment which allows for no rubbing with the 285s, which was a major concern of mine. Only little muck up with they installed the ext brake lines in the front , but they will correct it as soon as I get a chance to take the truck in.

I'm a little concerned with my CV angles. Let me know what you guys think, and if anyone is in Texas or the RGV hit me up love to me some other Tacoma fanatics out there.

 

Future plans so far are to wheel it all around Texas. Mainly SPI, but definitely want to make some trips to Hidden Falls, and attend this years Lone Star Toyota Jamboree if i can save up the funds quick enough. Definitely before all that I need to install a rear locker, that open diff just aint gonna do. Really don't want to spend the cash on an ARB set up, does anyone have any experience with the lunch box lockers like lock right, or tru trac. Id appreciate any feed back on them

Just a little bit of an update and review on the suspension and tires
The suspension is absolutely the best suspension I have ever had on a truck. I've owned full-size solid axle Chevy's, gen 1 Tacoma, ifs full size chevys, and most recently a 08 heep JKU, most of those with stock suspensions and not a single one can hold a candle to this OME suspension. The suspension is firmer than stock but still smooth and not stiff at all. I had read some reviews about the full Dakars being slightly harsh and I have to say they honestly aren't they're just perfect in my opinion. They allow the rear to flex and soak up the rough stuff with out bouncing the ass end all over the road.
As far as the 885x coils with top spacer and LR UCAs, it's like a match made in heaven everything just works together so well and provides again a stiffer than stock but some how smoother ride.
The little off roading I've done the suspension has been just as amazing if not more so than it's on road performance. Running through tractor rutted farming field access roads at high speed was no problem.
KO2's have been nothing short of great. They're very quiet on road head and shoulders above the stock Bridgestones. In loose soupy mud they clear out very well and didn't gum up at all honestly they ran better than the original KO's.

Those wheels look badass on the truck. Thought of Plastidipping the badges to ditch the chrome? One of the cheapest and best mods I did on mine.
