yes that would be the ticket but with the 4cyl i think i'd be tempted to look at an aluminum one with no hoops to keep the weight down

I had rr tie for rear bumper on an old ford of mine.
It was an old mud racing truck it helped pick the front end up. Once I torched it off it sat like a big ass jackrabbit.

That too. I can't eat bell peppers. Between burping and half a bottle of Tums, they do not agree with me at all.

I would really like to get an Aluminum one, with hoops like Andy's. But not a fan of the current designs. Or the price!!

Pelfreybuilt sure has a nice 1 but yes $$$$. it's a possibillity on the list but build will be simple and no priority.

That's the same with me. I haven't seen anything I like for a 1st gen and I really don't want to pay their prices. For mine I'd really like to build one of the old school bull bumpers and have the winch out in front but still kinda goes with the body lines.

Front runners are ARB or Shrockworks https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/bumpers-2nd-gens-only.164975/

ARB looks right for the first gen too .:} https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/1st-gen-offroad-bumper-options-gallery-w-pics.292292/

I've gone back and forth fighting with myself for years on a winch. It is very rare that I ever have wanted to go further ahead and deeper into what ever I was in. Have considered a hitch mount and putting a front hitch in, that way I could pull from the front or back. In the meantime I still carry a come a long that I've had for years. Each year that I get older I need it less and less and have no problem now looking at a bad section of trail and saying to hell with it there is some other place to hunt. Every once in awhile I don't listen to that little voice in my head. But I'm getting better at it!

I am not on trails hence the not really liking the high front bumpers in front of the wheels, I just want it for when I off grid camp I am always leary of getting stuck with the camper hooked up and trying to get unstuck. I carry straps, come along and high lift that can also act as a come along .

I want one, not so much for pulling the truck out, but for pulling other stuff. Downed trees, other rigs, etc. I can do most of it with the truck, it's just easier on the truck to use a winch. Not tearing up tires and clutches, gears and drivelines.
