OP, the 'alarm' lights that mount on the top of the door panels, little red LEDs. Install them and make them manually switched. It of course does nothing, but it will deter kids most times from snooping/change hunting/juke box pulling.

Using a form of kill switch with a 'hidden in plain sight' button works well too. Use one of the empty switch blanks, and put a switch in that is labled for something else.

It can interrupt any number of things, but the clutch interlock circuit or the fuel pump relay circuit are good choices commonly used.

At the very least these two things could deter pilfering and joy riding. Unfortunately vandalism still happens, sometimes just because they can't do what they wanted.

So not having anything in the truck you can't stand to lose, and having good insurance, are really your best protections.

Like a dowel, rod or such in the channel so it can't slide open even if the latch is jimmied?

Or are you speaking of something to prevent the literal removal of the panel?

I leave underwear and kleenex on the front seat, my goal is to make no one want to open the door.

A dowel isnt a bad idea, anything to keep the the panel from sliding open.
Ive never tried to lock my mine, I just know how easy it is to get in thru that window.
