2016 4x4 Limited V6 with around 17,700 miles - the check engine light just came on and also the TC light is coming on intermittently.

IIRC, the check engine light signalling the need for the 20,000 miles service should come on at around 19,000 miles, so something else must be going on.

Being Christmas Day tomorrow I really don't want to deal with BS. I'll check the oil and a few other easy to notice items and see if the Dealer is open on Monday...

    Any other recommendations or ideas?

Until you can get it scanned, we are just throwing darts.

The bad GC is reported to cause these lights as well as a wheel speed sensor malfunction too.

Were you running in deep snow or mud?

I had the same lights come on, Rodents (probably rat) ate through cables to CPS sensor. $740 fix, not good. Hope your problem is different. Sounds like it may be same issue.

The check engine light is your truck telling you that it already knows whats wrong. Don't sweat it. Take it to your local auto parts store at your earliest convenience. They'll scan it for free and then you'll know exactly what's wrong.

Until then, try not to stress about it.

Do you remember adding fuel right before? The CEL and intermitent Trac Off lights will come on very soon if it is not happy with the way the gas cap was put on.

Are you located in cold climate area? Could exasperate the issue. 30 vehicles in the last month at my dealer for chewed wires. Don't want to scare you, just telling you what's going on here.

If the light is not flashing, let the dealer deal with it after the holiday. I'm sure you have a warranty.

No warranty on chewed wires, just ask the person who just put out the money....it sucks!

    Your insurance should cover that.

    It was the gas cap....

I removed it and reseated it a few times and the icons still remained on, so I thought there was more to it. The Dealer said it takes 350 miles to reset and the lights to no longer show on the dash. He also saidthat given NJ is a full-service-only gas station State, they constantly have people coming in for this...

I always remove the cap while at the station, so now I'll also insist on putting it back as well.

You can use a scan tool to reset the CEL lights if you don't want to wait a couple of hundred miles. Oregon is also a full service gas state, but I have a locking gas cap which I personally take off and put back on after each fill up.

I had no idea there was such a thing as a full service gas station state, didn't even know they did that sorta thing anymore at all. Guess that's from never leaving the southeast...lol

There are mainly in the north east states.

Funny story, many years ago my 1st trip back from New York. I had just bought my Z06. Pulled into a gas station, had a guy walk up to my car freaked me out, so I did a massive burnout to get the heck out of there.... found out later he was the gas attendent. Because a cop pulled me over from a complaint. We both had a good laugh....

They are the only ones with law. Many states still have them though.

As soon as the snow melts on the driveway, I'm gonna crawl under the engine with a can of the goopy stuff and spray everything. Don't know if it's a BC problem, but dealer told me 30 cars in the shop for the same problem in ONE MONTH. Another guy was there for same problem when I was there.

Not bad, Nissan charge my friend $2000 for the same issue with squirrels.

Could always get a lower deductible, mine is $100
