thats not how it works. it is their burden to prove its true, not someone elses burden to prove its false. they cant claim it as fact until its proven. you cant just claim something is true without all the evidence to back it up tehn say "its true unless you prove me wrong"

religion is not provable, but science should always be provable, thats how it works. thats teh definition of the scientific method.

I'm saying that they test it completely to the point that they know it's a fact and then, if, later on they (or someone else) finds something new that changes this then it becomes false. I'm not saying it's up to other people but there are only so many tests that can be figured out to falsify something.

ok I will put my 2 cents in, and remeber they are my 2 cents HAHA

Ok my background to start this off, I was a biology theology, yes that is right biology theology major. (yes I graduated)

First not all science is provable hense theory (there is a difference between law and theory, law can be proven theory is the best educated guess with the information gather through the scientific process), I will ask you a question and if any of you will give me a provable scientific answer to it I will dance nakedn in times aquare and take pics of it and post them.

all things are made of what? Molecules
Have we seen molecules with a magnifieing devise? NO
how do we know molecules exsist? by the characteristics of the way things act when outside influense interupt the normal being. for example expansion and contraction with temps.
do we all need to see molecules to know they are present? NO

Now we pose questions to the other side:

how do you know that God exsists? through faith alone
    can we see faith? no
How do we know that faith and God exsist? through the normal actions of beleivers how so many are called to beleive in something of a hiegher power what ever it may be
do we need to see God to know he is present? NO

In both instances it is useless to argue the begining because they both have the same flaw. Also Science nor Faith is infaluble it is a human exsistance and beleive it or not we do make mistakes. And science even based on its own can not be proven and if you dont beielve that look up what we used to beileive to be true about spontaneous generation you will laugh. technology gets better and more evidense to prove or discredit the previous finding is discovered.

I will leave me thought out of this one and leave it for you to ponder!

Evolution is a religion too. You have to believe it because you cannot prove it.

The whole idea of god is so murky, really. On the whole, I can't really be bothered to spend much time wondering, "Is there a God?"

Clearly, if there is a God, he/she/it doesn't give a damn - you DON'T drop roofs on people - even I was brought up better than that (and I was born in Brooklyn).

    You don't starve people.

    You don't burn them.

You don't bury them under tons of rubble and let them die slow deaths.

You don't allow crazy people with guns to kill their co-workers or school mates.

You JUST DON'T DO THAT KIND OF SHIT.

As for all the poor souls who believe in one god vs. any other kind of god (this means you all you crazy Christians, Jews, and Muslims out there...and Evangelicals, and Scientologists, and Zoro-Astrians, etc.) - YOU SIMPLY JUST DON'T GET IT.

If there were a god, HE'D WANT YOU TO THINK FOR YOURSELVES and not buy into any of the hate, guilt, and arrogance being sold by the likes of Pat Robertson, the Pope, and that cute but crazy old nun that's always on TV.

As for evolution vs. creationism, anyone who doesn't believe in evolution is just a lost cause - the race is over people. OUR HORSE HAS WON AND YOURS IS STILL OUT TO PASTURE.

What about the "Missing Link", you say?.

Well, I'm sorry we don't have THAT fossil. After 4 or 5 million years of EVOLUTION, shifting tectonic plates (you do believe in tectonics, don't you?), hurricanes, avalanches, earthquakes, etc., YOU CAN'T EXPECT US TO HAVE EVERY FREAKING LINK IN THE CHAIN, DO YOU?

At this point, there are HUNDREDS upon hundreds of fossils of hominids of every shape, size, and description along with their clothes, tools, etc.

I find it quite amusing for those out there claiming to profess there's only one "true" god to look upon the American Indians, the Greeks, the Romans, or the Scandinavians with their "polytheistic" beliefs and laugh at how naive they were!

Didn't they know any better?! Those idiots! There's only ONE god!

And he doesn't like gays or liberals...

Sorry, but it's one thing to believe in "god"; it's quite another to let the rest of the world know you don't have an ounce of brains when you subscribe to some religion that's no better than the Taliban.

Religion was created to control the vast, ignorant masses.

    And it's working.

the beauty of creation is that you are not led like a puppet you are given choice hence the people making bad decisions

and as for evolution, there is evolution proven by scientific law

but neither the presence of God or the presence of evolution discredits the existence of each.

Have you ever thought about what the chances of the human eye evolving to the complex orb it is. they are unimaginable chances. But the same can be said for a creator.

Also another debating fact: Micro or Macro evolution which do you beleive

Things that make you go HMMMMM

    haha this is fun

electrons, protons and neutrons are not molecules, they make up an atom and multiple atoms make up a molecule

Protons, nuetrons and electrons are smaller than an atom. And those may be made up of quarks or something, but I'm not sure if that's been proven or not.

    gotta love google

Protons and neutrons each contain three quarks. A proton is composed of two 'Up' quarks and one 'Down' quark while neutrons are composed of one 'Up' quark and two 'Down' quarks.

What is the smallest particle of matter known?
So far it looks like there is nothing smaller inside an atom than quarks. Our experiments look for evidence that quarks have some sort of shape or structure. If they do have a shape or structure rather than just being a point (which by itself is a very difficult concept to understand), then there might be some sub-quark constituents. At present there is little or no evidence of any structure to the quark. Maybe there is though! That might be something for you, the next generation, to look for and try to figure out!

this is getting completely off topic
