Any ideas or advice? Start problems.

Bought my 2013 DCLB TRD Sport used December 2015 with 27k miles on it.

From the time I bought it I've had intermittent start issues. The truck will continuously crank but not start for about 3-4 seconds.

I noticed this happened only every once in a while and usually when temps would be different in the morning vs the night. Happens usually when I leave work at night after the truck has been sitting for 8 hours. Parkinglot at work is flat, not slanted.

Took truck into dealer and they found the following codes:
P1603 Engine Stall History
P1604 Startability Malfunction
P1605 Rough Idling

Said they could not find a clear issue to fix.

I had my oil tested my last change by Blackstone Labs. They found some fuel in the oil but minimal. Said it was normal if I do a lot of idling, I don't. I do put a lot of miles on the truck though. I am 14 miles shy of 50k miles so 23k this year so far.

My warranty expires at 60k, I'm concerned I might be looking at an expensive problem and want to know what I can do to rectify the issue prior to the warranty ending.

Anyone have any ideas on the issue or how to do some diagnostics?

Should I test the oil again?

Take it to the dealer and have them fix it under warranty. I don't understand what you are having trouble with

 

According to them there is nothing to fix.

 

Can you take it to another dealer? I'm not sure what's causing the problem with your truck but there's obviously an issue if it's throwing codes. For the dealer to just shrug their shoulders is not acceptable.

Agree with you Gainman , always good to have a paper trail regarding issues that pop up under warranty.

 

Have you done a compression test? Have you checked fuel pressure before and after the regulator? What do you spark plugs look like? These are things I would check. You will eventually find your smoking gun.

 

It's under warranty so I'd push the dealer to do everything in their power to fix the truck. To me it sounds like a wiring issue due to changes in temp that you noticed. Maybe electrical connection expends or contracts.
