Oh I'm not saying it's not a great idea or feature. I've just never seen it before.

Many new vehicles don't even have a spare tire at all, hate that idea!

TPMS is not needed to pass a PA inspection. you can have the warning light on and all. If the truck did not have the nice psi read out I would just put all 4 in a pvc pipe thing and be done with them .

That is just nuts, I get way too many flat tires to not have a spare!

I traded in my 2006 last fall and the spare never made it to the wheel... brand new ...!! No flats here... (my secret is...use a tire gauge and the TPMS can go to hell)..!!
    Works for me..

I always use a pressure gauge too and I really don't care if there is a sensor in the spare or not, just so long as there is a spare!

I use a tire pressure gauge, too, but not daily. I do look at the TPMS display just about every day I use the vehicle. A sensor in the spare would also eliminate the need to get on the ground to check its pressure.

It's still not clear to me if the limitation is the tire pressure warning ECU only having four slots, the display, or both. A contact at the dealership is supposed to get back to me with more on this.
