No. Save your money and enjoy your truck. It costs money to re-register/ taxes etc.. Your current truck does everything you need it to do.

I'm not telling you what to do with your life, just a recommendation to you. A financial adviser would have his hands full with you for that statement. ;):D

You're right... My truck has been very good to me and I have a lot of attachment to it. If it gets totaled then I would probably use the insurance money to buy a 2005-2010 regular cab SR5, but you're right. My truck does everything I need it to do!

This was back in November 2013...

I got my truck stuck in a ditch at Peddler's Village in Lahaska because I tried to park somewhere that I shouldn't have been attempting to park (long story). I saw a Jeep Grand Cherokee try to park there, then give up and drive away. If I remember correctly, I ended up with my left front wheel in the ditch, and the right rear of the truck sticking up with the right rear wheel just barely touching the grass.

At one point, a passerby, an older gentleman, tried to help me get my truck out. The truck was stuck tight so it was not going anywhere, but at some point I left the engine running and forgot to put it in park. The rear wheels were spinning, so I asked the man to put in park for me.

What does this old fart do? He doesn't sit down in the truck and put his foot on the brake before putting it in park...

He just reaches into the truck and throws the gear lever into park! The grinding sounds it made were horrifying...

At that point I was fed up with the whole situation and just wanted to get my truck out of the ditch, so I didn't call the guy out on it.

The fire department, the police department, and even a tow truck driver sent by AAA were unable to help me. It was eventually an employee of Peddler's Village with his personal truck (a high-mileage, well-used Ford F250 Super-Duty with a 5.4L V8) who got me out.

Anyway, I called my uncle right after the incident took place. My uncle made a fortune selling and repairing hubcaps and wheels, restores classic cars on the side, and has owned over 100 cars and trucks (plus a few Harleys) since he got his driver's license at age 16 (he's 55 now). Safe to say my uncle knows a thing or two about cars...

Anyway, my uncle said I probably had nothing to worry about...

That was in November 2013. My truck had less than 33,000 miles at the time.

Fast-forward more than 3 years and almost 40,000 miles later, and I haven't had any problems. In October 2015, at almost 54K miles, I had the transmission fluid changed. Again haven't had any problems.

I am just wondering if what that well-meaning good samaritan did 3 years ago will have any negative or downright catastrophic effects on my transmission as I get closer to and eventually pass 100K miles?

These were legal when I bought my truck...

Now that I actually have a bit of extra money to buy one, they're not!

I am all for cleaner air, but it seems like some rules were put in place just to annoy gearheads!

Unfortunately, Pennsylvania (my state) has adopted California's tree-hugging emissions standards.

What harm could a few thousand 2.7L Tacomas with K&N intake kits do to the environment?

It's bad enough that Borla makes exhaust systems for the 4.0L but not the 2.7L...

My truck is plenty powerful in my opinion, with good acceleration and highway manners, but it would be nice to have a little extra horsepower...

I have family living in South Carolina and Florida, where they don't have any emissions testing. It is just so infuriating that I can't have some fun with my truck just because it's registered in Pennsylvania.

These trucks are called trucks for a reason. They are tough. If the truck didn't brake so far I doubt it caused any problems in the past.
People abuse them and they still cross 300k miles without a single problem.
If that was me I would forget about it and move on

There are still times I wish I had a 5-speed handshaker and not a 4-speed slushbox though. My uncle taught me how to drive stick in his 1991 Toyota pickup in 2014 (almost 5 years after my dad bought me my Taco), and I mastered it in less than 20 minutes and absolutely loved it!

here is the thing, even though the cai is available for your truck, how hard or expensive is the tuner to go with it?
just slinging a cai on the truck will sound cool. but personally, in my exp, its not a true gain without a tune.

and since im just here every now and then, last i checked the tune wasnt available / cost effective for these trucks.

but thats just my 2 cents.

ps i dont like the california tree huggers either.

How drunk were you, you forgot to put it in park and let it sit there spinning the tires, and then asked someone else to put it in park for you?

I set mine up to do that automatically. Used three additional relays connected to one of the Aux outputs. One relay "sets" the temperature control to full hot, the second grounds the wire that turns on the truck's blower motor relay, and the other sets the blower to high. Will post wiring diagram if anyone is interested.

The "grinding sounds" would most likely be the parking pawl...[IMG]

...bouncing past a few holes. Not something I'd want to do every day, but once probably did not do any damage.

3 years and 40K miles. Are you seriously still worried about it?
Thanks goodness you didn't call the old guy out for doing what you asked him to. He's not the one who left it running in drive.

You obviously don't do enough stupid stuff. I have to stop wondering how bad I screwed something up fairly quickly because something else takes it's place.

I wouldn't run a K&N filter if it was given to me for free. A sock probably filters better.
I had one on my LUV w/350 and the carb was constantly dirty. My Raptor 660 had a K&N and that freakin thing was like dumping dirt straight into the carb.
