I am running about 5.5 in the front and 4.5 in the back. When I had a 3" lift I ran nitto terra grap's 295/70/17 and had to do slight trimming to the fender wells. No biggie. Now like mr. 4wp said I am running a different set up with an ARB bumper so trimming is no issue. I like the 305 tire size. I like the km2's cause I have never had an issue with them off road or at the boat ramp. They have pretty much done everything I have asked them to do and then some. Road manners kinda suck but I really don't care cause I drive like a grandma. I get enough high speed crap at work and drive my Tahoe like a work/police vehicle and when shit breaks I take it in to get fixed and it comes back,no charge. My theory on tires is the bigger more aggressive the better. When you trim your wheel wells or fenders you will never no that you trimmed so, go ahead and whack away.

Yeah I'm looking at the 305/65/17, pretty much the same height as 285 but .75 inches wider

On the websites I've been looking at the sizes on the tires and they are coming up on average 12.3" hopefully I won't have to trim to much more. Already did CMC

I'm sorry for the long post in advance. Lol

So I've been wanting to learn how to weld for several years but have always put it off. 2 weeks ago my brother who does lots of welding in the military came down for the holidays and brought a Lincoln 140hd to give me some lessons. After a couple days of welding lessons and practice I decided I wanted to buy a machine for after he left. I found a millermatic 180 with a large tank and cart on here (TW) for 700$. After messaging with the member we settled on 650$ but I traveled to Tallahassee to meet him as he lives in southeast Georgia. Despite the drive I think I got a great deal on the machine. Much more of a welder than I think I'll ever need but couldn't pass the deal up. My brother also has a Tacoma but just recently got into off-roading and wanted to make some sliders while he was here. So we left the house today to buy some material and get started. We went for the same design as mine SOS. We bought some angle iron, 2x2 square tube, and round tubing. He bought a 85$ hydraulic pipe bender from harbour freight that worked wonders. Lol. He decided he didn't want 4 separate mounting points on the frame so we plan to weld 1 large piece of angle iron onto the frame. We cut out room for the rivits in the frame. Worked for about 6hrs today. Everything is tacked together for now. Still need to add additional support to the main loop. Welder did awesome. And I can't believe how much I actually learned about metal work and fabrication. Nothing like doing bodywork and vehicle restoration. I wouldn't trust myself to do any of the main welding but I've learned just watching him. Just wanted to share it with you guys.

Looks great I've always wondered how well the pipe benders work when I worked at harbor freight.

It worked really well. We actually just stood it on the tailgate of his truck and used it there.
