    Hello everyone,
I wanted to start off by introducing myself. I joined here about a month ago after considering purchasing my first tacoma. In the month I've been here, I've learned so much about this truck from so many knowledgeable members which has made the buying and shopping process so much easier. About 1.5 weeks ago I bought my very first tacoma. A 2017 dcsb sport 4x4. The truck currently has about 380 miles on the odometer and I absolutely love it. I haven't experiences any of the issues some members has experienced. Transmission shifts fine, no noticeable noises or howls. It's been everything I was hoping for and more.
To the point now. I am
wondering if theres something wrong with my gas mileage. I went into this truck knowing it didn't have the best mpg rating and Im ok with it. This post is more just trying to see if theres something wrong with my truck or its just the way it is. Ive sorted through the big
Mpg thread. And the consensus I seen was most are avg around 18mpg and even 15ish in the lowside. I know some are getting 20ish but Im not expecting that doing most of my driving in San Francisco where we have lots of stop signs and hills. Even with that I'm willing to take the lowside. But it seems like
I'm averaging about 10-11mpg. Going through mpg thread, I did not see anyone get that low mpg. I do not drive with a heavy foot. I'm a believer of taking it easy for the first couple thousand miles so I am just barely gassing since the truck only has a couple hundred miles. There was something else I'm curious about. In the last picture you can see current fuel economy. It seems like just barely gassing and being around 1.5-2k rpm the meter is around 10mpg. Is it like that for everyone else too?
Sorry for the long rant and if its error on my part or something I' just reading incorrectly please let me know and I apologize in advance. I'm thinking about bringing it into the dealership but I wanted some insight from you guys here before I do. Thank you.

Have you had the transmission TSB done yet? Do you let the truck run while parked for long periods of time?

Other than that I don't know what to tell you to check. Even before the TSB I had 20 mpg avg. But after the TSB it went up to 23 mpg avg.

The truck arrived there two days before I was able to get there to pick it up. I told the salesmen that sold me the truck to have the tech check the transmission fluid and do the tsb for the transmission. And he told me they did. But who knows. How can I verify it? I sometimes let it idle for a bit. How would that affect the mpg if im not even moving?

Your burning gas while sitting. The truck calculates that also (0 mpg). I think there is a thread floating around (or maybe in the sticky) that shows how to check if the TSB was done.

You think its burning that much gas at idle to have such a disparity between what im getting and what most ppl are? Youre getting 20-23 and i'm getting half of what youre getting.

How long are your trips when your doing an MPG take off from the computer? Its not accurate for overall mileage to use those numbers.
Are you filling up and using the tripometer to Calc milage?

Check your gas mileage against your actual miles driven vs the amount of fuel it takes to fill up the tank. What you're showing is considerably low for fuel economy for a new Tacoma. It could be several other reasons, but this is a good place to start.

Your truck is still so new! San Francisco is the absolute worst for city mpgs. There is a stop sign every block at the bottom of a hill. I get between 11-12 in my first gen. Compared to 16-18 in my hometown city driving down south. Combination of both.

11.3 means there is something wrong.

Either you are lead footed at those stop signs or the computer is miscalculating.

Definitely fill up your tank, hit the trip switch, and upon next fill-up, divide your gallons-used into the miles. Then you know for sure what mpg you're getting.

But at 11... I'd be freaking out. Highway/Street (LA) and I got 17 this week.

What does the trip view of the HU fuel econ look like? Does it show you getting nearly 20 mpg while moving, with several minutes of idle at 0mpg? There was one report of a fuel leak at the injectors, but it was obvious, with fuel running on to thw ground.

Id suggest taking it on a trip out of the city and check it.

Hills and alot of stopping and starting gonna kill your gas mileage. If you drove on a flat freeway at a constant 65 mph you would achieve the mpg on the window sticker

Is 65 the best cruising speed for this truck?

I'm only on my second tank
Of gas. But I got the truck with about 11 miles on the odo. Dealer gave me a full tank before I took it off the lot. I ran the tank to almost empty. The distance
To empty was a couple miles before i filled it up. I ended up with about 260-270 miles on that full tank. The tacoma has 20.1 gal tank? That means I got about 13mpg. Im sitting in my truck now and Ive added about 120ish miles after that first fillup and im at half a tank already. And im basically going to get 250ish miles out of another fill tank

Yes i did it with my first full tank of gas from the dealer. Left there with 11 on the odo and ended up getting about 260-270 miles until it said a 3ish miles before
    Empty

At 380mi I'm gonna bet your sample size is way too small. Your warranty isn't 1000mi. Go drive the damn truck.

This is a fantastic way to burn out your new fuel pump. Keep doing it.

I only wanted to do it once to gauge how many miles i was getting out of a full tank. I usually dont let it get under half. The worst thing is having to pump gas when youre running late.
