So doing some R&D with @ToyTec Lifts and @Insane Audio. A few more things to sort out but Toytec should have the bad ass Insane Audio head unit available for 2nd Gen Tacomas soon!

Let me finish it up today will yeah. The bezel has to be trimmed to fit but the JBL wiring harness that you can order with the kit is plug n play.

Ok. So got it all wrapped up today. Had to find a power source for the camera in back and then work on trimming the bezel to fit. So it's a bit more work the I thought to get it right. I had to trim 1/8" off both sides then using the aftermarket mounts from my previous double din I had to angle the radio up about 3°. This resulted in good side fit but a gap at the bottom. Like so:
    20161222_135028.jpg

So I found some leftover trim from my Bushwacker fender flares and made it acceptable.
    20161222_142048.jpg

I still plan to run my tablet for HEMA Maps and the Torque App.
    20161222_141919.jpg

The radio is pretty bad ass. Runs on Android KitKat. I can download most of my Google play store apps to it. It comes with Torque on it ( I will not be using it) and includes three OBD dangle to Bluetooth to it. Hands free calling, DVD player, and one of the most detailed GPS systems I have ever seen. Blue tooth music, iPod cable, UBS connection and a micro SD slot for music along with one for the GPS that can be expanded based on the maps you download. Sound quality is great with the factory JBL.

And last but not least I did confirm with the help of @PS78 I confirmed that the harness supplied for the JBL model does plug n play with the 2nd Gen harness. So now all that is left is to work with Insane Audio to see if there is a better bezel that can be included in the kit.

Very Nice! SO what is the advantage of the insane audio head unit over other similar headunits like Kenwood or Pioneer with the Apple/Google play integration?

When it is all done it will be more plug and play friendly. The GPS appears to have more functionality then most others, and the sound quality is better then even my Pioneer head unit. Ability to customize this receiver is exponential.

Yes sir. I love RAM mounts. They don't bounce around at all.

Good to know! Do you have anything for your cell? I'm debating between ram, caseco, and mob armor at the moment. I'm still one of the individuals that uses their cellphone for navigation :cookiemonster:
