    hey guys,

Quick question. For the 4x2 and 4x4 TRD Offroad tacomas with the premium and tehnology package, do they come with the color keyed rear bumpers? I thought you get the color key rear bumper on the offroad when you purchase the premium and technology package.

Looks like locally they are charging an extra $550 for the color keyed bumper for the offroads with premium and tech package.

    thanks

They should be included with the tech package

They saw the difference and dollar signs in their eyes at the same time. Haha.

I was at my dealer today for service and they were charging 4,600 bucks extra on a floor model for some paintend badges and a simple lift and cheap/offbrand wheels. It's a stealer ship for a reason.

Yeah you get color matched rear bumper because of the parking sensors that come with the package. They don't make chrome bumper ends with sensor hold, only color matched.

Wow so they are trying to make extra money off of it. Damn why does Servco have to have a monopoly here in hawaii!!!!!!

Anyone have any official documentation of it that I can bring down to the dealer to maybe have them drop that extra $550?

Get the Tacoma brochure. I believe it is listed as part of the package.

Yep. The Blind Spot Monitor (BSM) radar doesn't work so well through a chrome bumper end so they give you the color keyed.

Got both the 2016 and 2017 brochure in front of me. Yep says it is included. According to servco's website it isn't included but is included for an additional $550. Asked the sales guy and he said nope doesn't come with it. WTF????

Incorrect they do actually have a chrome bumper that accommodates the sensors (sonar) as part of an upgraded sr5 package the bsm I think is the issue.

Should work just fine...The "chrome" rear bumper on the 3rd gens are all plastic. No metal there.

I was going to cut holes for flush mount LEDs and realized that when I took a closer look

Tell them you want P&T without the colored bumper caps then. Dishonest.

Actually I hate the chrome but wanted the offroad model. Will it make or break the deal? Yes because the chrome is an eye sore to me.

Chromed plastic still has a layer of chromium, which remained a metal the last time I checked.

It'd just be interesting to see them try to cough up a P&T OR with chrome.

When I bought my off-road it came with the color matching bumper. I do not have the tech package. I would ask them because it doesn't seem you even need the tech package to get the color matched bumper.

Still confused as to how you came to the conclusion that a metal/chrome bumper affects parking sensors in the first place...they're everywhere...

Fact. Both of my F150's had sensors in the metal bumpers.

Fact. Toyota actually offers them in the Chrome bumper of the Hilux

Fact. The sensor isn't mounted behind the metal. It sticks out past the bumper.

And here's a Dodge with them in the chrome...

The blindspot monitors/crosstraffic alert (different from parking sonar) are contained inside the bumper and don't protrude through the bumper cap. They're inside the corners, weird little box things. I think they work on a different technology, because they have MUCH longer range than the parking sensors.

Color-matched bumper was included on my P&T OR model.
