Bad parts happen sometimes. I had a Focus that went through three warranty clutches in 2,000 miles (problem turned out to be defective flywheel batch and the first replacement was also from the defective batch.) That CV joint was definitely damaged IN THE SHOP, everything is way too neat for anything else.

Hope Toyota corporate takes care of you. Holidays make everything harder because nobody is in the office or wants to work if they are.

EDR's usually only hold the last 60 seconds or so in memory so not tremendously useful in this case.

Nope, the tech was implying it was abused. I just ask the Toyota Corp rep to escalate this to a buyback request. Maybe that will help speed things up.

Are you hoping for a Buyback or do you just want it fixed?

Well I would like them to fix it ASAP but if it's going to take a month or more, I might as well buy a new one without all these issues. Just want to know what my options are.

update: finally looks like Toyota came through. received a call from Toyota HQ this afternoon from one of their case manager. She was very helpful and offering a bunch of options to help ease some of the inconveniences cause by the dealer/busted clutch.

The warranty claim has been approved (the dealer only submitted for the clutch, flywheel, pressure plate & release bearings) and they are shipping them from Cali to Canada, so it will probably take a few days, and once they truck had received the replacement parts, they will ship the truck back into the states and have it further inspected again and finally ship back to me.

and finally they will get me setup with a loaner.. hopefully they will offer me something on the side as well.

Maybe there's light at the end of the tunnel after all :)

but yeah in the future if anyone have any issues needed Toyota HQ, be sure to ask the customer service rep to escalate up to a case manager, I was on the phone with them daily and things were going nowhere until a case manager took over, what a nightmare.

anyways thanks again for your input and helpful insights, really hope this is an one off issue with the 3rd Gen. will update once the truck is back in my hands.

    Happy New Year!

That's great news, glad to hear they are going to fix it and finally give you a loaner vehicle!
