I regretted getting rid of my tonneau, so probably best to wait it out or ask the vendors for updates personally.

I think I'll do just that. I'm in no hurry and in the mean time I can pickup a cheap hitch rig to last us.

No unfortunately these do not work with a tonneau, I'm still looking for one that would work, but hopes are not very high.

I fish about 20 kayak tournaments a year out of an 11.5 foot kayak. Get a Harbor Freight bed extender. Or, a nicer option, a Boonedox T-bone extender. I also have a Malone kayak trailer for when I'm hauling more than one.

Another option is to buy a cheap 8ft trailer that folds up. That way ypu can transport more than your kayak. Used one when I had an Escape with no cargo rack. Worked great for several years until I got my long bed double cab Tacoma. Enjoy the kayak.

Well...I have a goal of 10 boats on to...so my needs are slightly different. So far I have been able to get 7 pretty easily. Now if I can just convince the people I paddle with to go with short boats...

But I digress. You are asking for options. I initially went with the Yakima WhispBars and they worked okay, but I never liked bars that attached to the door frame. Over time they tend to move some.

The WhispBars looked something like this:

    and a closer look:

Over time I really didn't like them, so I went with some yakima bars that I had on my other vehicle that attach to the through bolts under the rain gutters:

    After install it looks like:

If you are going to have a cap on the bed, just get the racks that come with it (but be sure to ask for the longest bars you can get, and then cut them down). With long bars it looks kinda like this:

A but ridiculous, so I cut them down to a more reasonable 68" (I think):

And then a loaded truck with a few boats would be closer to this:

Short Term - drop your tailgate and just strap it down.

Long Term - simple roof rack should easily support that Yak.

Use the hitch bed extender. I transport my 12 ft Hobie outback no issues. They're like 50-60 $$$ for an extender

I too use the extender for my canoe. Also works great for hauling lumber.

all the rack suggestions..sorry. i'm reading it as "your saving for a future rack, how can i carry it safely until then"./

i say turn it over and tie it down as is. or put it on the wife's Nissan xterra?
