Gonna run a ft-2900 that my coworker gave me until I figure out what I really want.

 

ft-2900 is a solid radio.

 

Seems a Hi Lift Jack is in my future. I see a 48" (looks like the one), but I also see a 60". Any reason for the 60" for the Taco? Best place to buy?

 

35's. I am still on a 48, but have a new 60 in the garage at the ready

I have a 60". Got the longer one so it would reach the edge of the Fourwheel camper on my old Scout. Figured if I needed to make an adjustment, or re-seal it (it sat on the bedsides, unlike my current one), it would be long enough without blocking. Also wanted the longer pull when using it as a winch. Worked well when I got stuck in a snow bank by myself in the middle of the night. Fits in the 5' bed too.

Downside is mounting it vertically. Not a problem with a tall camper, but would stick up too high with a normal height vehicle.



Since you have a winch, and a normal height camper shell, the 48" extreme is what I would get. It has a clamp thing on the top. Not sure what it would used for, but options are always good. Maybe cracking coconuts?



That chain thing is cool too for side pulls.

 

looks legit. I used the red base addition for a while, I have a relentless hilift base now. would recommend some sort of base since you wont always be using it on the pavement, either something you buy or make.

bigger is always better, if you can fit it!!! I have a 48" but I only went with that because it fits mounted to the front of my bed.

 

After seeing Ferny's highlift slide out from under the truck even with a red base last weekend I'm Gonna look into having someone make me a base with some type of nubs on the bottom for a little more grip in the snow.

I have been meaning to make one of these to improve my welding skills. would be a fun project. I wish they would let me play with the welder here at work.

 

What's the best way to get rid of pinstripes from the trails over my Christmas trip? Lol
