    V6 Tacoma - 19 MPG
    Hilux Diesel - 21 MPG

    V6 Tacoma- 278 HP / 265 Torque
    Hilux Diesel - 163 HP / 270 Torque

If they decide to use the KD engines in the tacoma, I don't see it being a huge selling point.

I wouldn't trade my 17 in for the same one with a diesel. But If I had the option between a diesel or gasoline engine when buying a tacoma, Diesel. Because Diesel .

    1) possibly in the limited
    2) this is a safety thing. I don't think any cars do this. Imagine you leave your personal belongings in your vehicle while filling up the tank with gas and someone unlocks the passenger door while filling and takes your stuff. This happens more than you think.
    3) possibly in the limited
    4) MPG requiriements said no
    5) 2020model.. MAYBE. Luxury cars are still doing this as an add on. We just got projectors with a halogen in the 2016 model. Long ways to go.
    6) probably be an option on trd sport and up

    1) As far as I know, the Limited or the Pro don't have power seats
    2) I think this is dumb. I should be able to unlock the doors with the smart key at the passenger door like I can at the driver door. Other Toyota models have this. Hell even my wifes 2012 Prius C has this feature.
    3) Limited only comes in brown leather. Pro does have black, but there are no leather options for any other models which is dumb. If I get the Off Road, I should be able to add leather
    4) Stupid mpg requirements :)
    5) It's a hope for this someday at least
    6) This needs to be at least an add on feature

Thanks, If I was to pick one single thing on my list it would be seat height adjustability. Lack of comfort is a deal breaker for me, I drive long distances on my weekend adventures.

    - 4 way passenger seat
    - LED Headlights (In 5 years Halogen will be completely dated)
    - Smart key function at least on the passenger front (if not all doors)
    - A leather option... For a $42,000 (Canadian) truck and $47,000 after taxes leather should be almost standard

I feel these are major flaws that are purposely left out of the design as there must have been a discussion at Toyota about these.

My wife's 2016 highlander with smart key allows for you to unlock the door from the passenger door.

Also, maybe I'm lost idk, but 4) ? What does mpg requirements have to do with having enough room between wheel wells to lay stuff flat? Honest question.

Correct. I was adding more fact to @ratcityrain with his statement that other models had it.

Not sure how the mpg is affected either so I had no response lol.

I can only think that if they changed the wheel well dimensions to allow 4' sheet to sit flat that it would change aerodynamics or something along those lines that in turn alters the mpg's

I think they just don't want the Tacoma to grow that big, this is almost the same frame as the 2nd Gen. Plus it'll eat into Tundra sales, just like adding a V8 would. I'm not buying the mpg reason for widening the truck.

Those are good points. I can never see a v8 in the Tacoma and i'm even skeptical that there will be a diesel in the Tundra.

It's not really an issue since sheet good does fit, but I did have to purchase 25 sheets one day and it would have been nicer to lay it flat in the bed rather than resting at the front of the bed and on the tailgate.

It's not that. It's part of the CAFE regulations Toyota has to deal with. The Taco is a high volume seller with means it's MPG rating effects the entire fleet's average. The whole reason they dumped the 1GR engine was to up the overall efficiency...if just on paper.

Toyota doesn't really care that a Tundra gets 12 MPG because they don't sell enough of them to really matter. The Taco....they care about. So even an increase of just 2 or 3 MPG (on paper) on a high volume vehicle keeps the EPA happy....or at least happier.

You can thank the Prius, Corolla, the hybrid fleet and all other efficient vehicles in Toyota's lineup for the engine you do have....as they skew the CAFE ratings upward. If the EPA had it's way you'd have a tiny turbo charged engine that turned a small generator that powered an electric motor....and you'd have to find away to make 75hp work in your Taco

That's a good point I hadn't thought of, keeping it small or "skinnier" so as to not hurt tundra sales. As for the V8 or diesel option..i would love for a diesel in these trucks just because I feel diesel is even more reliable however I really think any of the power gain or MPG gain would be really minimal for me to have to trade up. V8 just wouldn't ever happen.
