On the drive to work this morning, my 2016 Tacoma (AT off-road) went into limp mode with CEL as well. Tried to pull the code with my ultragauge but nothing showed up. I also had 3 different warning messages in my information display: check charging system, low oil pressure, and high transmission fluid temp. I tried to restart it back up and drive it after waiting a couple minutes, but it was still in limp mode and sometimes would stall out. Had to call Toyota Care and they towed it to the dealer down the street. Dealer lent me a rental for the time being, still waiting to hear back what is going on. Hopefully just the CPS and covered under warranty.

Sorry this happened to you. It's a miserable feeling to pay for something that expensive and not get it. At least you got a rental car. I had nothing to pull codes with and was basically told I didn't know how to drive. Keep us updated. The more we know, the easier it may be for the next guy. (The reason I keep updating.)

Offer to take the Toyota Tech guy for a nice drive on the interstate on the same days/times that your truck issues seem to appear.
Heck let him drive (with you in the truck). Once he experiences the issues, he can't say "you are a bad driver", "this is normal", or "we couldn't replicate the problem".

Nothing new to report other than it started in the Brake and Accelerator pressed at same time mode. Turned lights off and on and it ran fine on the way home. Same problems, same issues. Didn't shut down on the interstate last night. Did give me issue coming up my hill at home.

exactly:thumbsup: if you drove the truck out of the Dealership and the same problems occur after they say its A OK nothing wrong, turn around drive back and ,have the service manager drive it while you point out the issues, this sounds more like a lame Service department because if this truck is throwing any codes or having any type of malfunctions in the system they should be stored in the ECU in order for Techs to retrieve and fix, if your constantly throwing CELs they should ALL should be stored even if you cleared the CEL light, which in your case should be numerous enough to get the Techs attention, I would assume. I would say either the Service dept sucks or your not putting your foot down hard enough on them to fix the issue, even if you paid over 40k for the truck or Chevy is better don't matter for good or for bad the truck is YOURS and you got to handle it properly to get it ironed out.

Case Manager from Toyota said there was nothing wrong with the vehicle because the tech said there wasn't. We agreed that I should seek a second opinion. So I went to Bert Wolfe Toyota. The guy over service told me they didn't want it to take it back to the other place and refused any diagnostics. So I'm at the original dealership.

I'd contact Toyota Corporate on that. No way should a dealership shrug off possible issues like that especially since the other dealership hadn't done anything.

Missing My Last Tacoma --- Had 11 Toyota trucks in the past and many other Toyota cars too.
    ...^^^... This for sure

Intermittent problems are so hard to find & solve at dealer.

I traded off a 2011 TRD OR 4x4 because dealer could not duplicate and fix vibration on acceleration.

That vibration drove me nuts  and dealer thought I was BS'ing them I think.

Actually, my Gen.3 SR5 has been one of the best off the dealer lot. (Maybe 3rd best out of a dozen Toyota trucks ... 1980's R22 was best and 2004 was 2nd)

this is not true, you can take your truck under warranty to any Toyota dealer in the USA for service and they have to honor the warranty. this happened to me also with my truck I took it in under warranty for a blown shock to a dealer that was in close proximity to where I live and they told me I would have to take it back to where I bought it. needless to say Toyota corp was called and of course I could take it to any dealer I wanted, so I reported it told Toyota corp the service writers name filed a complaint and went to have it fixed at a another dealer

18TOZ said health check was fine. No issues. Showed a short in the brake wires but nothing else.

I made them apologize for saying I drove with both feet. They reset the code. The journey continues.

My Ex always had that impression too about believing she had to go back to the original Dealer. I would always give her the example that if she were on vacation 1000 miles away that it would be fixed at the closest Dealer under warranty.

jup it makes sense that the warranty should be transferable, most the the biggest issues I have are with dealerships and the people that work there being lazy or non concerned about helping owners that have verifiable warranties, it seems as if the owners are telling service writers to get rid of any warranty issues on vehicles not bought at their place? but I have since found a great dealer that is really good and I take all my work there even tho its a little farther to drive its worth it they have a good customer relationship. they fixed my shock and did a TSB for catalytic converters, and gave me a loaner car, I bought the truck used with a Toyota certified warranty on it, after getting these little issues resolved and some 30k maintainence this truck runs great. now just going to mod it the way I want and enjoy it.
