Hope that it's the pump, the rack in this Gen is a freaken PITA to remove and replace and it can suck a big one.

The symptoms I'm having now are the same as they were with the OG rack. Very little power steering/heavy steering wheel and lots o whining at low speeds especially let's say when pulling into a parking spot. Loose sloppy play that suggests worn out TRE's or Uni-Balls that also would suggest bump steer at low speeds while on the trail. It's just the worn rack that can be visually verified when the wheels are off the ground and moving the wheels left to right, right to left. There's also a nice leak at the main seal on the driver side, and that's where all the play and slop can be seen.

@blackhawke88 attributed a lot of front end issues he was having to everything but his rack. He replaced it right before our recent Death Valley trip and is saying all the issues are gone.

No more pix. The base unit is mounted to the floor under the driver's seat. The unit does have a detachable face you can use for remote mounting. I drilled one small hole for the cable in the useless cubby hole and attached the face to the cubby with double sided 3m tape.

As for the antenna, it's a Diamond MR77. Magnetic base, dual band 2m/70cm

As long as you remove the middle bolt from the top of the rack and not try to remove the welded nut from the bottom :anonymous:
