    My doors are the only stock things left besides the headlights
    One of the rack bolts on the second gen is a real bitch too if it's the original rack, once you replace the rack you put that asshole bolt in from the bottom...much happier that way lol

    Did a swap on my buddies 06, and you're 100% right about it. That bolt went in from the bottom after the switch.

    You cut that one flush with the nut before you pull it and it will clear as you wiggle the rack out...as far a wiggling the rack out I highly suggest burning some incense, chanting satanic mumbo jumbo, drinking heavily, looking at it upside down and wearing gloves with padded knuckles.

    Once we had everything unhooked, moved out of the way, and that damned bolt cut in half getting the rack out wasn't too bad.

    We did remove the front frame supports, and disconnect all the soft lines up there though.

    I think on the fist gen the nut is welded on the bottom. Right jberry?

    Seems like this job is gonna be a real bitch. Might just have a mechanic do it on the side for cheap. I just want my truck up and running

    Drop bracket lift and booger welds
    My most difficult part was getting the steering shaft separated from the input shaft because of rust. Then I invested in an air chisel and it zipped right off.

    Did you try the old school way? Turn the switch to 2wd, then back up for bout 40 feet. Sometimes that frees it up.

    Replaced my rack in about an hour. Not too bad if you cut the bolt. Definitely not fun though and definitely not fun in 8 degree weather.

    Well verdict is in. My guess was correct, it was the pinion bearing. But it's so fucked that it actually welded itself to the pinion gear shaft. They are going to try to cut it off, but new r&p is a possibility as well. Balls
