I had a media course my junior year in college and my professor wanted to make the class believe that television violence influenced criminal activity and violence in society. I brought up that Detroit and Gross Pointe share the same television stations/ media outlets yet the two areas have dramatically different rates for all varieties of violent acts (I had a class the year prior that I gave a speech on the very subject and I opposed the idea). I then mentioned that education, parental guidance, socio-economic situations and maybe a few other things might actually be the reasons why Detroit is so dangerous. She was not thrilled with my response and after class challenged my comments. Her liberal attitude forced me to go a step further and I decided to bring a small report in the next class citing a study about Gross Pointe and Detroit... she was not amused and made me meet with the Dean of the Communications Department.

For some reason I think you could appreciate this little story about Gross Pointe and liberal bias. Weirdest thing is that Gross Pointe Blank came out a couple years later and made me laugh at the out of place hitman in such a well to-do neighborhood.

 

That was a good movie. Doesn't relate to kids today cause they're a bunch of pussies.
