If you're going to be riding in your truck/car/bike or whatever, why not spend the time to make it enjoyable? A "truck guy" doesn't have to settle for less just to live up the 'title...." which ironically, varies from person to person. If trucks are just for utilitarian use, you might as well throw out the leather seats, speakers, subs, head unit, LEDs, etc. I can imagine an old 94 Silverado k1500 be more of a utilitarian truck.
Anyways, as to why I like this swap...it's bc I'd like to have radio/Bluetooth control on the steering wheel. My 08 didn't come with it.

I think the emblem is melted on from behind the cover, take it off and try it. ...couldn't hurt. Tractor paint lasts

I've thought about prying it off. You mean you can remove center airbag cover ? Hmmm

    Unhook the airbag leads first

Can someone clarify what is needed if using a 05-11 airbag on a 2012 style steering wheel? I know the airbag cover is needed, what else? Someone mentioned brackets?

2ND gen Tacoma has some varying wheels from what I saw:
    05-08 no audio controls
09-11 same wheel w audio with no Bluetooth, same airbag bracket with different cover
    12-15 wheel redesigned, diff bracket.

Desertrunner did this so he's more knowledgeable

Thanks for the pictures... to me they look like completely different airbags though? Are we certain the 05-11 airbags can be used with the 12+ wheels?

Airbags definitely look / shaped different. The earlier is larger. Plugs are even reversed between the two photos.

Don't believe this is the right way to go....

Back to looking for 12-15 airbag...
