Haven't found one..I've only come across manuals in Short Bed configurations or in TRD Sport models.

New is not always better. What is it about the 3rd gen that has been luring you?

New interior, Prem and Tech package, sun roof..and I've never bought a brand NEW truck..always bought a few years old with low mileage. And like I've said before, I still have good trade value in mine now and won't by the time gen4s are out. Bottom line, I have the new Tacoma itch and I'm sure it'll wear off but wanted others opinions.

Have they announced any differences between the 2017 to 2018 models? I'm hoping they change the front grill, not a big fan.

You already know the answer to your question. You love your almost new, barely broken in trouble free truck. By the time you will need to get a new truck, you will be glad you waited.

Go back and read all the "negative" remarks on the 3rd gen. 99% of the time its the same 3 or 4 members bashing them or its NON 3rd gen owners. Like all of the ones here.

Sometimes we get on reviews and count all the bad remarks. Not taking in account that most are just the doubled/tripled by the same posters.

No one knows your situation, if you can afford a 3rd gen, no way would I go back to the 2nd gen I had. This one has much more power, better mpgs, power outlet in bed, etc.etc.

    Good luck!

Honestly it sounds like you are just trying to troll us at this point. The grille can be changed.

True, negative feedback can be compounded by the same group of people.

I can afford it, although not having a truck payment is really nice. I'm torn on power..heard it both ways. I know what I have puts out plenty of power but lacks the mpg. I already have the bed outlet in mine.

What I've read is the sunroof comes in any model with the Premium/Tech package. I could be wrong?

Everyone has an opinion... I love my 16 DBL Cab TRD OR. Nothing is perfect but of all the complaints I have been reading about, I haven't experienced a single one of them. Go drive it, if you like it and want to spend YOUR money on it then forget the opinions of everyone else. If you are happy, then the decision was a good one. You could buy a perfect truck and get rear-ended tomorrow in traffic.... The point being is it's just stuff. My TRD OR does have a sunroof BTW... it has everything I could have wanted in a vehicle. There will always be those people who bash a vehicle because "they could have designed a better truck".... in the end... get what you want. If you're happy then that's all that matters. These things hold value so well it wont matter in three years... it'll still be worth money.

Your gas mileage won't be measurably better with bigger tires on a 2017. You will miss the low end power/torque of the 4.0L especially once you slap bigger tires on the shift-happy transmission and 3.5L motor.

OP what's your value for the MT? do you want, or not mind, an AT with the 3rd gen motor?

a lot of folks around here would prefer the MT, especially in light of the AT's economy gearing, the motor's soft bottom end, and of course the AT issues, which may or may not be a risk, who knows?

i have driven some AT's and i was never convinced those would work for me given the above. i made the plan to go MT or walk. i'm super happy with mine now, although i'd still want more low end from the motor... which makes it sound kinda like what you're driving already. if i'd go 3rd gen it's only MT, and if i had your truck i'd probably be totally happy with it. for what it's worth.

Yes the drivetrain is one of the most common criticisms for this truck. It has power but it is on the top end so you have to get into the gas pedal to really feel it. Then the motor winds up like a leaf blower.
