I want a 6MT. I've heard both good and bad about the 6AT but I'm not opposed to buying a 6AT. Biggest issue lies in finding a Long Bed Off Road in a 6MT, regardless of AC or DC. Anyone own one or seen one?

Long Bed Off Road is where I won't compromise..I won't buy a Short Bed.

The off road has a sunroof if you get the premium and tech package on a double cab. Not sure if access cab has sunroof. I agree 100% with your statement most of the whiners on here are the same ones over and over and people who don't own one. I had a few minor issues with my truck but had that taken care of and the TSB performed. I like my truck and most 3rd gen owners love theirs as well.

if your priority is LB then i think you're out of luck for the MT config. no MT LB combo in the states, cannot speak for canada... seems threads come up every now and then with someone looking for that config up there.

Some people have tranny issues with the 3rd gen. Some don't. My friend's '16 has no issues, while mine shifts harder than normal.

It's under warranty, and if there is any issue then you can take it in to have them take care of it. Not too big of a deal IMO. Just as long as you don't have to keep taking it in.

You trade up IF it's: in your budget, a top priority for you, if it's worth it for you. Some people think paying 3k for the Premium Package on the TRD is crazy, while I thought it was worth it because I use all of the extra features that comes with it. It's all a matter of is it worth it to you, is it a priority right now, and can you afford it without compromising other important priorities as well.

I did it against advice from members and don't regret it. Had a 2015, traded up to a 2017. No issues thus far and it is tight. Better in most ways.

I'd keep yours with that kind of mileage and minimal issues.

    Don't do it....

No need to fix if it ain't broken, because you MIGHT be fixing more often than Toyota wants to admit it's broken!

Sounds like your getting bored with your old truck...it happens to most of us. I personally think there are too many bugs in the new 3rd Gen. Try doing something to freshen up your old truck and drive it a while longer.

Did some more researching and after talking to the dealer (he gave me a pretty nice deal on a 17 Auto DC/LB TRD OR 4x4, roughly 34,500 OTD) I decided to just stick with what I have. I'm hoping Toyota offers a AC/LB or DC/LB in 6MT in the near future. Flusters me why they don't offer this config anymore.

yeah i think they offer it here in canada.
but toyota is really hit or miss with configurations.

like in 2016 you couldnt get an offroad in a double cab here but now in 2017 you can.
they also changed the availability or configurations with auto and standard here again.
same with colors. i wish the quicksand or cement were offered in the doublecab sports in 2016.

Unless you go to Canada you aren't getting an Access Cab Manual Off-Road with a 6MT.

Toyota only made three driveshafts for the (4x4) truck, the manual one and two automatics. That means the manual is only available in the ACLB or DCSB configuration.

But I tell you I drove the automatic on my test drive and while I was attempting to merge into traffic with it I knew I could not live with it.

    THIS

If any Tacoma buyer came into this third circle of hell known as the 3rd gen forum, NO ONE WOULD BUY A TACOMA again. Its a case of a few apples spoiling the bunch me thinks.
