Forgot to get that stock into the shoulder pocket.
She's lucky she didn't catch a face full of shotgun.

In 2009, Marie Moore, pictured above, took her son Mitchell to a Florida shooting range and rented some guns. While Mitchell lined up, Marie killed him with a single shot to the head, then shot herself. She'd had a history of mental illness. She's one of many such Americans who have killed with rented firearms.

A new video report by Fusion's Kimberly Brooks highlights the difficulties in preventing gun deaths at rental ranges, where shooters don't need criminal or mental health background checks to take a variety of loaded weapons to the firing line:

    And it was her son....

You mean like Jane did on "the last frontier" but I still say that was Ott's fult for not catching that before it happened

This is one of the main reasons I avoid gun ranges....

I have a nice old man about 95 years old that lets me shoot on his property as long as I clean up after myself plus I give him a bottle of Scotch every so often...

That's the reason the range I go to doesn't rent guns to anyone flying solo, you either need a battle buddy or you have to have brought your own gun as well. They figure if you've brought your own gun to shoot more than likely you're not gonna try checking out with theirs. It's happened twice at another local range and a buddy was the one who found them both times.

I have actually, never been to a gun range other than Ccw qualifying. We have always had them on our property and as you all know by now, I now have my own gun range, with both rifle and handgun set ups

We have 80 acres we can shoot on at any time.
Around thanksgiving we went shooting out there with a family friend who had just bought 5 acres on the edge of ours and he pitches the idea of making a full shooting range on our property, 600 yard rifle range and a pistol range out to 30 yards, he'll let us use his equipment and he will help us with the dirt work and clearing.

His plan is to get it setup with steel targets and a few paper target stands and have it for his family and ours.

My honey hole is in jeopardy as developers are getting within the distance needed with County laws of occupied dwellings ....

And the County just added 1000 ft to the Occupied dwelling law and 300 ft to the roadways....

And I did see where new outdoor shooting laws will be enacted in 17 that will put in place that will almost make it hard for Recreational shooting enjoyment...

Has anyone tried their hand at engraving handgun slides or machining them? Been toying with the idea of engraving using a CNC machine. Have the slide and patterns CAD'd up.. extremely hesitant though.

Your biggest challenge would be getting thru whatever the coating is on it, and then what to do with the exposed surface after.

The thing is, I modeled the Slide from scratch. Even though I got measurements and tolerances as close and tight as possible.. I still worry. BUT...

... its also not my gun. G19 Gen 4 that a buddy said "have at it".. sooo makes it a little easier. I also dont want to produce shit work either.

    for reference..

its still a work in progress. As are my CAD skills in general..

the pattern will be thinned out in the Programming portion, to make it random.
