    Hey guys,

I bought a 2016 about 6 months ago right off the lot and love my truck. Been looking at the Tacoma for about 10 years now and I was finally ready for her!! I'm looking to start making some modifications slowly but surely. For my Christmas present to myself I was looking at either adding a rocker bar to the side with a detachable step to help the kids get in (the N-Fab or a custom) or going with a new grill guard, something like the Aries pro series.

Any thoughts on which would be better to add first or would you go a different direction? Eventually I'd like to add a 3" lift, but with a little baby girl due any day I'm taking what I can get.

Thanks for any suggestions. I'll put some pics up one of these days soon!

Nfab Nerf Bars was my first mod... still have em and they are great now that my truck is lifted. Sliders would be good too if you rock crawl ... that's (rock crawling) off my list with this truck. Been there and Jeep.

More of a practical mod (not really looks so much) would be a bed mat if you don't already have one. Keeps stuff from sliding around.

Do you need to know, or care?
Nerf bars all the way. It's a more practical choice. Also helps with keeping other people's doors away from yours.

Here is my list of what I would do first before lift, tires, wheels, grills, bars, etc. It is a pavement queen at the moment so I don't need any protection from rocks.
    1. A/C drain mod
    2. Grease Zerks
    3. Salex tray and organizer
    4. Hondo radio knob
    5. Clazzio Seat covers

Thanks guys, I doubt I'll be getting into anything too crazy with this truck but I'm definitely taking it off-roading and sometimes you get into situations. With the Rocker bars I figured I'd have the extra protection on the bottom, just in case. Anyone use N-Fabs rocker rails with the detachable steps?

The bed mat is a great idea and will definitely look into that. At some point down the road I'd like to get a shell as well. I do a lot of camping and fishing throughout the year and do some fly fishing guiding on the side, so the coverage for the dogs and gear would be nice. But a shell isn't in the Christmas budget this year!!

I went with a OEM bed mat (with the Tacoma logo) since the final cost was just over $100. The main thing I wanted was to not have stuff sliding around in the bed.

Limited wheels, extra rope hooks in bed.
On the flip side of a bed mat....You can't put stuff in the bed and just slide it up to the front...

I wanted a bed mat, it was high on my short list, then after not getting one for a while I decided maybe I didn't want to go in that direction after all...

I put an extra set of OEM "rope hooks" in the back that looks stock and I'm extremely happy with that configuration...

    I use those hooks constantly.
