Mother's 'back to black' does a decent job. Need to continuously apply it for the fenders to look dark black.

    FYI

98-00 have fiberglass fenders, not HDPE. This won't work well for those years.

Also, the heat gun treatment works okay but your flares will quickly oxidizes again.

I have paint matched ones, won't work too well on those, either.

I'm in the sand them and smear some bedliner on them...

Spray stuff from Home Depot? That's what I've been eyeing for mine. The Back 2 black doesn't last long at all.

My Tacoma is a 2000 and has black plastic fenders. As others mentioned, it lasts a few months which is not too bad, I'd say you need to do it at least 3 times a year. It's pretty cheap so try it out, works pretty good on the black parts of the bumper parts too. After application it pretty much looks like new.

I used the brush on kind, Herculiner if Im not mistaken. Ive heard bad things about the spray on kind, plus I didn't have to take mine off, just taped around the edges.

Yeah, the spray on stuff pretty much sucks. It's really thin so doesn't get very good coverage, but is thick enough that it clogged both cans I had with half a can still left!

I've been redoing my utility trailer, and thought I'd use the spray bed liner stuff, and wasted both cans, so I tried the high heat stuff used for bbqs instead. Seems to be working much better. Not sure now it would work onplastic fender flairs, though. I'm due for another coat of herculiner on my bed, might do my fender flairs, then, too.

I bought a pretty small can and had a whole lot left after doing the flares and mirrors. You might be able to do everything with one decent sized can. I think it all dried up though and I have no idea how to renew it, just be sure to either use it all or figure out a foolproof way to store it.

Thanks. I'll look into that. Tired of doing the back to black. Only lasts a few days it seems.

A magic eraser and some elbow grease does a good job of returning them to black. Just like using the heat gun, they will eventually fade again.

While the bed liner will fade eventually, it will take much longer and is generally less prone to scratches. Not for everyone though, but I highly recommend it.

It's textured but I wouldn't say it's rough like some bed liner. I like the small amount of texture it has though. Make sure to get dupli-color brand. Everywhere I've read says it's the best
