Yeah it was quite boring honestly haha. I enjoyed the border patrol stop on the 10. His security question was. "Are you a U.S citizen I honestly laughed a little and said yes sir and he waved me on haha.
Luckily tomorrow only about 380 miles to get to Anna.

I remember my last border patrol stop. 2 in the morning I was so tired and we had been driving for 16 hours or so and he said how many people are in the car. I said 4, and he said ok proceed. Mile down the road I realized we had 5 people and was expecting cavity search on the next turn.

Shit yeah been getting everything loaded into the house. Out here and I love it!! And I really love the gun laws!! Haha.

So can anyone give me any info on how to get my license and truck registered. What's the process? I heard I have to take another drivers test.
I am curious if they will trip over my truck.

It feels great out today. Welcome to Texas! The gun lawys are pretty good.

heres some info about getting your license:

    New to Texas?

If you're new to Texas, you have 90 days from the time you moved to the state to obtain your Texas driver's license. After that, your out-of-state or out-of-country license will no longer be valid for use in TX.

In order to apply for a license as a new resident, you'll take the same steps as those outlined in “Apply for Your TX Driver's License" below, EXCEPT you will not have to take the knowledge or road tests IF:

    • Your driver's license is valid and unexpired.
    • Your license is from another U.S. state or territory, OR it's from France, South Korea, Taiwan or Germany.
If your license is from a country other than those listed above, you must take both the written and driving tests.

NOTE: If you have a valid learner license from one of the countries listed above and wish to upgrade to a license in Texas, you'll be required to take the road test but not the knowledge test.

    New Military Residents
If you've just moved to TX and you are either active in or recently discharged from the military and your driver's license is expired, you might be able to skip the knowledge and driving tests IF:

    • You present a valid military ID card.
    • You present proof that your previous state that issued your license has a policy that lets military members drive with expired licenses.
      • Contact your previous state to see which documents will suffice.
    Its from here: http://www.dmv.org/tx-texas/apply-license.php

Sweet!! Seems easy, so after my license then I can obviously change my insurance to Texas after I register my truck?

Look, your in the country, go to the closest DMV and get the liscense. laws just changed for registration. Call the county tax office and ask them. Where I am I go to a lube place they check the safety items. Brakes lights seat belts and then to tax office to get my sticker. They do not give a fuck if your tires stick out to far, if it's too tall, the cops do not check illegal mods like California because they don't give a shit.

Cops are usually looking for drugs when your closer to the border. No matter what way I go west I see cops searching someones car at least once each trip.

If you like good wood fire gourmet pizza place, go to downtime mckinney and check out: http://www.cadillacpizzapub.com/ One of my favorite places to eat!

Theres also an In-N-Out about 10 min south in Allen.

    Welcome to DFW!

If you're in Collin County, you'll need to get your vehicles emission tested/safety inspection before you can register. It's $25.00 at most local oil change places and they'll ask to see your insurance card. Once it's been inspected, take the paper that says you passed and your current insurance information to the county tax office. They'll process the paperwork to get you a windshield sticker and Texas plates. I think it's around $50.00 for the plates, plus the county tax/registration fee. In Dallas County, reg fee was $65 if I remember correctly. I also think you have to prove you've changed your drivers license to Texas before registering your vehicles.

If youre coming from out of state you'll have to pay taxes as well. Between getting my new license and registering my Subaru here from OK, it was north of $450.

Thanks a bunch guys! I appreciate it! Luckily I'm working so I have money coming in. And I have time since I have to wait 30 days to even get my license. I appreciate the help I will go and get that stuff done! Still loving Texas
