I believe Pilkington makes our glass. And yeah its really crappy stuff. I wonder If I could put some sort of clear film over it.

    I doubt it.
I picked up a avs bug deflector and some in channel vent visors from auto anything. $70 with rebate.
Hoping it keeps this from happening again in the short run, but I know it's not perfect.

It just blows my mind how it happened. Heard something hit it going 35mph down fee fee road with no one infront of me. 30min later I notice an 8 inch crack. Next morning it's spanning the entire windshield.

Do you have to put OE glass back on or can you get something more durable?

Don't think there are any external films for windshields but I do get 75% film put in on the inside of the windshield of all of our cars. Helps with additional UV blocking and the ever so light tint makes east/west driving more comfortable as well.

Living in rural areas helps as I'm not forced to have cars and trucks directly in front of me like you folks do in the major metropolitan areas. I can leave plenty of room between my truck and those in front of my where in the city other people don't see a "safe following gap," but instead just a hole to shove another mental midget into.

I have a feeling just the original. But I could be wrong and it could change. I just went thru what the insurance gave me to get it over with.

I was planning on getting at least visor tent when I get that done. And 20% on the rest. Do they offer a gradient type deal or put a darker strip on top? I haven't put tint on a vehicle since my civic in highschool. Lol.

You can get the really dark strip added on top but I don't go in for it on my Tacoma as I'm already looking out the top of the windshield as it is. Wife has it on her 4Runner and I have a 4" strip across the LandCruiser windshield since it's practically a greenhouse.

Austin at Wolf-Fab did mine. If you want to save a few bucks schedule a time with him and just do the cutting before hand and then he can weld the plates in after. Daily driving for a couple weeks without the plates won't be a big deal as they won't collapse on you. If you have no way to cut them I have a grinder at my shop that will easily handle the job.

Nobel but that is the game plan for next weekend. I have a plasma cutter to get it off and everything I've read said to spot weld/small runs to burn the bushing. I don't have covers yet. Is there any way to use the piece you cut off? I haven't looked at the mount and seen all my options. One thought is to redrill new holes for the bushing so you can turn the bushing where the bolts aren't in the way.(not my idea but smart) Chop the cab mount and cut off ends to make it flat and reweld it back on.:notsure: It sounds good in my head but will have to get underneath there and check it out.

So mobtown has got a great group buy going on their skids. They have a good front skid that has a panel in the front for easy access.
Considering to buy these before the sliders. If it reaches the 25% off mark, which I'm betting it will - I can get the front, transfer, and transmission bare steel delivered for about 500.

What should be more important at this point?
I do have the OEM engine skid from the offroad package
I'm still not going after some serious trails until I've paid the truck down a lot more.
I'll be sticking to "bunny trails" for a while.

I just keep thinking back to how even though I busted up my predator step, it still saved me from some door damage and that I had no clearance issues underneath. So the thought is nagging at me to keep going after the sliders.

What are y'alls opinions for the noob on a budget?

That's is tough to choose. They both protect vulnerable areas. What the skids protect is a showstopper if it gets damaged and the sliders protect aesthetics... I don't want either one damaged but I'm a sissy when it comes to that. I have a tendency to be more aggressive on the trail and not pass up certain lines because I "can't". But that is my style of driving. IMO you will be fine either way. I don't know the trails in the jamboree but just me mindful of whatever is vulnerable and pick your line accordingly. If you had to push me to make a decision I would say skids are the most important simply because of what it protects. My 2.5 cents. I personally won't do anything beyond mild trails without skids and sliders but I'm a long bed and a sissy. When I'm armored up.... let the show begin.:burnrubber:

That's a tough decision. I went for the skid first because like you I don't wheel all that often and my step assist did a fair job last time however on your truck I felt your predator steps were more of a nuisance to you always get caught on everything. The OE skid will protect you a little bit it will just get banged up pretty bad in the process. If I were you I'd go for the sliders

You can wheel allot of trails at Barnwell without damaging anything underneath. Keep in mind that many of the trails do get narrow from time to time. With all of that said...

    Sliders now.

What he said. It is definitely trail specific of what would benefit you more. Sliders for the win.

Sliders. Skids aren't needed until you start doing rocky rocky stuff.
