OK I can see it now. Once I removed all the extra info, it was pretty clear.

I just got my truck and filled it for the first time, it says i get 385 miles per tank, i have a 2017 double cab v6 2wd. i'm sure it will get better MPG cause i only put chevron gas in my cars. not sure what kind of crap gas the dealer put in it and i ALWAYS get better gas mileage with chevron gas. and my commute to work is only 4 miles away with no freeway driving.

I have the same issue and have had my truck for about a year now. I'm also not that far from you, just down south in silicon valley. I average about 12 mpg, but I think this is because of my two mile commute. Whenever I drive down to Pismo or out east to Lake Tahoe I can get close to and sometimes over 20mpg depending on what I have loaded in the truck. It's funny, I was able to get almost 19mpg carrying an atv in the bed down to Pismo than I do on a simple two mile commute with minimal traffic. I'm very interested to see if you find a way to get better mpgs, but I don't think that there is any issue with our trucks...

Not really. 55 steady is what seems to do best for me(TRD OR 4x4 MT) ~23mpg. But if you tried that on I5 you'd get run over.

let me start off by saying I didn't read the whole thread, so not sure if it was addressed or not.

But, OP, you have like 300 miles on your truck. You haven't driven enough to lock down real MPG Numbers just yet. Your still getting use to the truck and the computer is still getting use to your driving style. Put some miles on it and then talk MPG numbers.

Besides, that Computer calculation is a joke. It constantly fluctuates based on how you drive, idle time, etc. Not to mention the fact that the miles to empty is skewed because when it says 0 miles, you technically still have 2-3 gallons or so left in the tank as a "reserve"

Easiest way to determine real world MPG numbers is to fill up. Reset Trip A, drive. Then when you fill up again, take the total number of miles driven on Trip A divide it by the amount of gallons you pumped. That will get you your actual MPG. Then reset the trip and do it again.

Also, I drove home from Houston the other night, filled up before I headed home (That MPG calculator on the dash resets after each fill up) I averaged about 80-85 MPH my whole way home, about an hour and a half or so. The mileage calculator said 21.5 MPG. I have about 8,000 miles on my truck.

Just put some more miles on her and enjoy it.

OP, I really would see how far you go before you have to fill up again. I have the same issue. I used to get around 15.9-16.2 local driving but all of a sudden I'm getting around 11-12 mpg. People here chalk it up to the cold (it doesn't get that cold in Seattle) or winter gas blends but none of my other vehicles dropped 3-4mpgs because of winter gas. Before, I used to average 270 miles per tank, but last tank I only got 170 before I had to fill up! I'm getting slightly better now for some reason, floating around 12.5-13mpg and will go through 1 more tank before I take it to the dealer but if you really are getting 10-11 that's bullshit.

He also would be going down a lot of hills I would think. I just ran up Cameron pass and back last night (180 mile round trip with grades on both sides). I averaged 21.2 MPG running up grades on my way up, spending most of my time at around 30-55 MPH. I topped off on the other side of the pass and headed back over. I took the picture below after I got home, which clocked the return leg of the pass from Walden to Fort Collins (around 85 miles). Lots of downhill.

    upload_2016-12-30_16-55-59.jpg

Gearing on the manual favors 35-55 MPH speeds and revs in the 1800-2100 range for fuel economy. Out of the gate my truck was averaging 21 and I see 18.5-19MPG on the highway running 70-75 MPH. On flat ground running at 50-55 in 6th I see 23-24. I had a bad tank of gas where the motor knocked on heavy acceleration, so these motors are noticeably affected by lower quality fuel.

I'm siding with the OP that something is off, and I would start by going to a new gas station and putting in a fresh tank of 87 or 89 Octane.

I currently have around 2500 miles and mileage is fairly consistent - havent seen a big hit from winter fuel mixtures. I run 87 octane and the truck is a 6spd MT.

Yup. What goes up must come down. I just finished 500 miles in 2 days going to Billings and back. 80mph highway, over the pass, up and down, in town and even 50 miles in f/t 4wd through a royally snotty section of interstate today.

OP- you should start to see real numbers when you're 3 tanks into it and 500 miles. At least that was true with my old 3rd gen and also true with my new rig..

    It's been mentioned several times...

Fill up your truck, reset the mpg meter, and go drive for 30 miles on the highway at 65-70mph without any major hills. Then post what the mpg meter reads. If you aren't at ~20mpg then something may be amiss.

My truck gets 22-23 at this and 24-25 when using non ethanol gas.
