Halak has been a whipping boy for a while. He's stood on his head for multiple teams only to always end up second fiddle.

Tavares might walk to another US team but not back home to the Leafs or anyone in Canada. Players stay with their team for passionate reasons but leave because of money. Just like Encarnacion there isn't any point in signing in Toronto, or Canada in general, because of the tax rate and that's likely going to get even wider.

 

That's exactly what I meant. About half of the times the Leafs and Sens met in the early 2000's the Sens were the better team on paper. However Ottawa just couldn't finish and given how many times they met in different rounds one has to wonder how much of it was mental. I definitely think one of the strengths of the Leafs of that time was Tucker and Domi. Not just because they were tough, but because they would often get teams they saw a lot like Ottawa thinking about the wrong things in meaningful games.

 

Remember when the Habs were thinking about keeping Halak and trading Price ?

I'm talking about overall. While 1 goal in 5 shots happens lots Miller is definitely having a tougher go of it this year. You have to wonder when the bottom will fall out.
