there was a question earlier in the thread about repairing tears that didn't get answered.

I've used Tear Aid Type A to repair various outdoor fabrics. I recently repaired a rain jacket with it and it has survived a couple of cycles through the wash machine. It lasts years on tent fabrics.

I hope no one ends up needing it.

Finally joined! Had it on for a week, but today finally opened it up. Bought the bed rack off of @Shmellmopwho . The condensation mat came in 2 pieces and seems to overlap in the middle, I'm assuming i have to cut that down and then secure the ladder side piece with screws and or zipties? Had to redrill new ladder holes, trying to find the right angle. Cant wait to go camping!

I have a DCSB and would like to purchase an extra large tent (Autana, GT-180, Mt. Rainier, etc.). Thinking Front Runner cab and cap racks. ANY reason why I couldn't mount the tent on the cap with excess tent over the cab?

Lots of bolt on chrome stuff
Will your cab and cap racks line up in elevation? I don't think having some of the tent overhang the cab would be bad at all, but if it's going to be resting on or close to the cab rack you could have problems. The cab and bed move separately as the truck flexes over bumps and stuff.

Damn. Racks WILL line up. Was hoping that not fastening it would mitigate any flex between the body and bed.

It might. Just depends on the amount space available for the movement.

For Any of you guys with 4runners, did you have to reinforce your roof for the weight of the tent?

Nope. I use the stock side rails and a set of Thule bars. 2 summers, 7 months at a stretch, and no issues. Lots of fancy roof racks available for the Runner's too. They're pretty pricy though

How much weight can you put up there? If the tent is 200 pds, I'm 200 that would leave room for one more person pretty much, no?

What are you guys using for webbing to fasten down the tent cover while traveling? I know there's a couple brands out there that have straps included. Are any of you fashioning your own or is there something prepackaged that you're using?

The roof is designed to take the weight of the vehicle in a roll over crash. It can take a couple people and a tent.
