Do you need to know, or care?
Go to Toyota.ca and look in Specifications, it'll show you which model does or does not have what.

I guess in Canada, there is no requirement for freedom sensors.

Did his actually have TMPS? Was his a 2017?

I thought the AC OR were as is, didn't think we could get different tech packages on them since they already come with most of the tech package standard.

I saw some reference in the manual to the meter button on my steering wheel, but I was not able to see anything in there related to TPMS. Was able to change From Celsius to F. I await the masters to resolve this!! Thanks

I was just watching a YouTube Video of a brand new TRD Pro in Canada and he happened to mention that they don't come with TPMS and actually several other things that are on US Trucks.

Lmao I feel bad for the guy that bought your wheels and bitched at Toyota for not being able to program the new wheels on his truck, then further on having to buy sensors then rebalancing them!! Haha

It took me 30 mins on the Canadian toyota website to find the fine detail that actually states no tpms on manuals. In the survey after purchase I complained about this fact. The website has be downgraded for 2017 so who knows where this information disappeared to now.

Its about time someone made these sensors easier to deal with. Have a new 17 wanting to change wheels and hoping it has the valve stem sensors.

How would I go about verifying the type of sensors?

im impressed at the "brains" with this light though. my last car turned on a light if they dropped under 29psi. the tacoma wont unless one is lower than the rest like this am when my rr was at 19 and the rest at 22(freaking cold this am!)

Almost all vehicles now use the valve stem mounted sensor. Doesn't make them any easier to deal with if the idiot changing your tires doesn't know what they are doing. The only other tech that i am aware of for monitoring tire pressure was using the wheel speed sensor to detect a wheel spinning faster than the others due to a smaller diameter caused by under-inflation, but i think that is pretty much gone with the wind.

Make sure that you use a reputable shop to do the swap so if and or when they break something, they make good on it. Your best bet is to order what you want online, have it delivered and let Toyota do the install. If you go elsewhere and the shop does break something, as of last August no one could program the new sensor but Toyota anyway, so that meant a trip to the dealer regardless.

My $.02... Worth slightly more than you actually paid, but not much :D
