You mean to haul something longer than the cab rack, so that it wouldn't hit the roof of the shell?

No the shell needs to be flat and level with the cab so I can add the rack to it

Little bit of progress, just need to rotate the top hat on the other shock but the bushing is too far into it. Any ideas on how to get it out?

But just need to install the other shock, put the spindle back together and attach the brakes and its done

Can you install the shock, and then rotate the shock by using a breaker bar through the bottom of the shock where the shock bolts to the LCA?

So you think all the weight like bumper, winch, skids, and so on would warrant 700lb springs?

Thinking of doing the shackle flip and shock relocation when I'm ready to lift, think it's worth it?

Also, how do the duratracs do in the mud? Thinking it's my next set of 285s...

A 650# spring would be the max I would go with our trucks....and like you said that's only with bumper, winch, skids.....etc. And a shock relocation is definitely worth it, depending on what you are doing for springs in the rear. The limiting factor in travel in the rear is the shocks, as our stock shock mounting location doesn't allow much. Even with getting a leaf pack, like deavers, AllPro...etc you will be limited by the shock, unless you do a shock relocation to allow yourself to run a shock with more travel. The shackle flip will allow you to get rid of the U-bolts from hanging down off the axle giving you that much more ground/obstacle clearance

    :luvya::luvya::luvya::luvya::luvya::luvya::luvya:

I didn't see or pick them to beat Michigan honestly. But I guess the Big 10 or whatever the fuck they are aren't as good as they were cracked up to be

I'd go 650# don't think that extra 50# will do much.

But the duratracs have done great in the mud. Look aggressive for a AT but they aren't the greatest when it's wet. Only slip when I get hard on the gas right after a stop so I'd be wary of that. Other than that pretty good tire IMO.

Thanks, didn't get the 700lb option on lowrangeoffroad...

Thanks, might do the relocation. Not to worried though cause I don't go to crazy...

Good, ordered some kings a couple days ago and didn't get the option of 700lb coils. But I saved around $60 vs wheelers price.

Thanks, believe they're my next set of tires. Try to keep it light with 285s and I'm tired of these MT'S I have now, can't hear anything.

    Eh, like $23 difference...

But for future reference...how is that exactly.

Not to be a shithead or anything, but in the interest of being precise, a shackle flip is typically done on 2nd Gen trucks to change the shackle mounting point on the frame from the bottom of the leaf spring shackle to the top. On our 1st Gens, the pivot on the frame is already on the upper shackle location.

A U-bolt flip can be done on any generation of truck and just relocates the U-bolt nuts to the top of the axle for better clearance. On a 1st Gen you have to at least relocate the lower shock mounts if you do that though, because they are integral to the factory U-bolt plate which gets discarded.

Sorry for the thread jack, Josh!

Along the lines of what I said above, most people, including Robert and myself, elect to do the U-bolt flip at the same time as both a lower AND upper shock mount relocation. Of course that involves welding, cycling the leaf pack to find the bump and droop points, and then locating the shock mounts accordingly to maximize shock travel without overcompressing or overextending the shock. The bump location depends on the type of bump itself and the leaf pack you're running, by the way.

Not to worried about it, read up on it and it says it changes the way it handles on the hwy. I Tow a good bit so that's the last thing I want.

PM Mica @Downsouth Motorsports and see what he can do. I need to get into contact with him here soon

I think/hope he meant u-bolt flip. I didn't even catch that he said shackle flip. But yeah don't do shackle even on a 2nd gen. Get loads of droop/flex but limits carrying capacity.

No need to thread jack, it's fine. It's all good info
