In the good state of Oregon it rains alot. But have only towed a couple times since the rainy season. Anyone shove di-electric grease on the contacts? I know its good for keeping moisture but seems like itd be a magnet for dirt. IMG_0091.jpg

same here, remember a little goes a long way. I put it on with a q-tip if I remember correctly. I have also used fluid film int he past on other vehicles as it apparently won't hurt electronics.

Dielectric grease is what I have used for years. A little dirt is far better than green corrosion. If you ever use metal valve stem caps use it on there too.

If you have ever worked on a construction site and having to haul trailers, you are use to dealing with the dirt in the connectors on trailers. I've replaced so many, I now carry spares in my truck with wire, connectors, shrink wrap, etc. No idea, why it is so hard to get anyone in the workforce to do things properly and take care of equipment, these days. Sure it was always a problem, but it certainly seems to be very prevalent up here in Canada on job sites, people just don't give a shit and they wonder why the gear fails them all the time. rant over.

A back step for when I get older, Carhartt seatcovers, 4Runner wheels, Topper, and "tats all folks"! --for now!!
Agree that, many people don't take care of things --sadly even if it belongs to them. "Somebody elses" stuff that's where you really see the lack of caring!

I have never used dielectric grease. I'm just going to have to pick some up. Thanks

It works very well, I use it for a lot of things in marine environments as well. Works great as an o-ring lube, helps to stop dissimilar metal corrosion, great for rebuilding rebreathers, helps somewhat maintain water resistance/proofness on some electrical connections. You can also pack it in shrink wrap around connections to help seal the connection up from water intrusion. I coat my dive knife with it as well to prevent rust from forming with salt water. I'm sure there are lots of other uses as well, its relatively cheap for a large tube if you buy it from Acklands Grainger/etc as well.

If you get a small tube like the sell at some of the auto stores, just puncture the seal on the end of the tube (underneath the cap) and it should fit right over the 4 pin connector, give it a squeeze and voila. the 7 pin just put it on with toothpick or q-tip/
