Hi there guys. I'm new on the group and first time taco owner. I was looking for an advice since I don't have any experience with RTT's and I don't see any reviews on CVT website. What are your guys thoughts on the Mt Shasta standard pioneer series? I'm also looking to buy the bed rack from CBI. Thanks on advance

I love my Mt. Shasta. It's been a great tent and it's large enough to easily fit two people very comfortably. I have an older model with the overhang for the annex.

I don't have the Shasta but I do have a CVT. Generally very happy with the quality. I've had stitching fail in a couple spots (one zipper and one of the D ring straps for the cover). Fairly minor issues considering the use I've gotten out of it though.

I use a self inflating air pad. Warmer and cushier than just the foam.

So sorry to bring this back, but this bugs me lol. The frame is designed to take a rollover, but you're gonna lose some inches to the roof and the roof itself is gonna be in shit shape lol. The frame 'should' hold though. So that being said, lets not tell people "it'll hold" and then when they strap a 200lb tent on the roof and stuff another 400lbs worth of people and gear inside and their roof bends, I don't wanna read the "wtf" posts after lol

I've seen some pictures of Baja racks damaging the top of a couple FJ Cruisers, but I've yet to see someone experience a bent roof from tent + people sleeping atop the cab. I have mine mounted to two cross bars. The towers are mounted in the ditch channel. Between the wife and I we are under 300 lbs. Perhaps we are light enough to pull it off.

I agree to a point... you are correct that in a rollover the frame will bend and you will lose some inches on the roof. When that happens though we are talking ~4,500 pounds. The poster I replied to made it seem like he was questioning whether the roof could support a tent and people. My point was simply that ~500 pounds of tent and people isn't going to collapse the roof.
