TRD Off Road vs. TRD Pro...Worth it?

Pro headlights are $1500+ each. So factor another $1000 to get those black innards. Rigid Fogs are another $500 as well which you didn't mention. TRD OR can be had for invoice while pro will cost MSRP. If you want the pro trinkets so much so that you would buy them and put them on a TRD OR then definitely get the pro. You will come out on top. But are those trinkets worth what they cost by themselves or even the up charge for the pro itself? I think not but to each their own. When I ran the numbers for myself I was looking at nearly a $7k split between a TRD OR and pro.

Question though: why reinstall the side step rails without the steps instead of just leaving them completely off?

 

It's twelve bolts! I will see what it looks like installed with the mod and then decide. I am hoping it will provide protection the body and help hide the frame rails.

 

Cool, why not. I'll just plant the seed suggesting rock sliders, aka functional armor that doesn't cost much more than steps...

 

Granted I ordered my 2016 OR back in Oct 2015 when Pro was not available, I would still choose ORDC because of single reason:

1) Long bed.

 

Saw my first TRD pro in person. Nice truck but not for $51,875. Dealership had to mark it up 7 grand due to it being the only one in the area.

 

Gonna pull the trigger and get a Pro, unfortunately not for another 4 months or so. There are none in south Texas.

My thoughts exactly haha. Took my 2016 in for the 10,000 mile check up and the dude was trying to get me to buy this. I'd drive outta state to get one before I'd pay that.

 

ive seen a few online for 41-43, but too far for me to go get one. closest one was north of dallas, MT in white, dealers around my area said it would be a few months before they got any.

 

This is most expensive one I've ever heard of. It was 5 thousand cheaper than the tundra TRD pro they had there which shows how crazy marked up it is. Most people have to get put on the waiting list. They're worth it if you're gonna use it for what it's made for.

 

If you plan on keeping your truck for 40 or 50 years and not driving it more than 50 miles a year the Pro would be way more valuable.

 

yea its way over priced. I wont pay over 43 for one. plus I have lots of equity on my 15, owe 5 grand.

 

I wouldn't pay 43K for a tacoma. That is ludicrous. There is 3 in my area and they offer no incentives, not even military rebate. I bought my 15 GMC 1500 All Terrain for 44K out the door with tax and had a 54K sticker. I was offered an off road with premium tech and JBL for 36 out the door. Then throw on an icon stage 4 would make more sense.

 

Midsized truck market has never been a good choice as far as the amount of truck you get per dollar, you either want the size or not regardless of price.

 

A 2017 Pro was just listed here in Toronto area. It's used with about 2,800 miles on it. Guy is selling it and going back to a Tundra for size reasons. Asking $52,000 CDN (about $39,000 USD).

I wanted the pro but the dealer refused to give me a Supplier discount on it. They wanted to charge above sticker. So I ended up with a OR and got my supplier discount which was about $3k off. Now I have money to get Pro mods so it all worked out. The bonus is I got the color I preferred instead of being stuck with 3 choices.

 

It's not worth it for me. I love how they look, but like thenomad said - you can buy lots of really nice vehicles for 45-50k.

Hell for another $10k I can get a brand new Duramax Denali which is what I'm probably going to end up with.

Mid 30's is the absolute upper limit of what a Tacoma is worth to me personally.

 

There is absolutely nothing PRO about the PRO. For that reason alone I could never buy one.
