I use to be real heavy into CB. Base unit etc.
Then they loosened up the rules and the assholes came in. Swearing and all sorts of stuff so I sold everything.
Ham would be cool. Talk to people accross the us

Yeah , my thought is get my license put up a decent antennae and radio sys just listen while in the shop maybe chime in here and there etc .
But getting a portable rig too for when going camping and such talk between the guys we use cb's but no one wants to invest that much in to the systems anymore since they do not reach that far . We have all talked about getting 2 meter systems and go with that.

Yep it has changed over the years, a lot.

The joys of living in the cold and smoking meat. Right now no meat but a full water pan. Even heated the water first. Did I mention that I am using a pit viper fan and cyberQ controller? Kind of neat exported the data to excel and plotted it. Can tell when I put the jacket on, lifted the lid, etc. Going to be a long cook tomorrow on that pork butt. On the other hand will be warmer then, left my drink on the table outside while I was out there dorking with the equipment and forgot about it for about half an hour and it froze solid. Think I need more alcohol in it.

My father was a truck driver and we set up a base station at home. Went well for a few years but after that mom quietly took every thing down.

We think a lot a like. Your not the only one on here that I can say that about, guess that is why I keep coming back and checking in on here.
