    Now that I can understand lol :} Though I am pretty sure any piece of meat near a 1800 deg weld temp is going to be charcoal pretty quick :}{

    I would do a 2" t-bone for about 30 seconds per side. I do them at probably 500 deg for 5 1/2 minutes per side for rare with a little bark. I say probably 500 because I have never checked other than putting my hand about an inch or 2 above the grill till I can't keep it there longer than a second or 2.

    You have to grab the right tool out of the tool box :)

    Speaking of which I appreciate your ASCII text. With extended ASCII can get pretty fancy but I dropped off it about then. Too much like programming. ARPANET and usenet you could do some amazing things. Well I didn't but have a feeling you did. The AOL and CompuServe with HTML? pshh! Although if you wanted to download the latest drivers to install that 5.25" floppy..

    And same to you. Must be all are in bed. If I wasn't playing with fire I would be too. Oh and happy New Year to you! Provided the healing process goes well for you I can honestly say you have one of the best jobs in the world. Based on your coworkers anyhow! Hope things work out for you to continue that way.

    Well I was well versed in IRC / Usenet /Newsgroups and was used to using Archie, Jughead, Veronica and gopher searching . You ever time a 5.25" floppy drive ?:} Used to have to set the timing for the read head and spindle speed :} I still know how to kick a modem on ATDT& .. if I go hunting I believe I could dig up an arc net card lol If you noticed there was a Packard bell book on the shelf that is from my first commercial bought machine a speedy 486 sx25 with a 80 mb hard drive :} Prior to that it was all borrowed or cobbled together machines trash 80s, commodore etc never used a Sinclair but saw one being used lol. Yeah been around the Net a while long before www when it was on BBS and war dialing to find a node ..

    LOL, at that temp not sure. I go with an instant read but more times than not a probe with wifi. And shoot for MR myself. Between 125-130 at the deepest part of the meat. Don't want to have chase it down and kill it but don't want to over do it, becomes way too tough to chew should melt in the mouth.

    400, 800, 1200 bps modems and First Class BBS. Yeah baby! Internet of Asheville we took all the old 386 servers and used Linux to cluster them on modem banks.

    I only use a thermometer when I cook a steak for my wife...or pork or chicken. If the beef is for me, it doesn't stay on there long. Just long enough to make the fat on the sides to just start to drip, flip it once and on the plate.
