I get holiday pay ontop of 1.5x pay, so I consider it 2.5x ;)

I see a lot of the same people posting on nights I work too..so what do you all do???
I'm a Correctional Officer with the State of Oregon. Job is less than thrilling but the pay/benefits/retirement are well worth it. We do shift bid every 6 months, picked graveyard for family reasons.

Eh I probably will be up early enough to get a comment in or two, lol.
Moving out of my apartment back to a 35minute commute next month to save money, and day shift starts at 7. So I'll probably be up at 5am.

My build thread is sad right now. More so just organization and open to free advice. I haven't had time to install anything for nearly 3 months now. I have a pile in my closet of goodies. 3 more boxes arrived today; vent visors, bug shield, and tonneau. But I should have a weekend or two to have at it while getting organized for my move.

Mine is not too exciting either most nights...

    I sit here.

Pay is decent but, I'm pissed that even after maxing my 401 I still paid >$41k in income tax for 2016.

As far as holiday it's 1.5x if I want to take the holiday later (which I always do) or it's 1.5x normal rate + holiday pay (I'd prefer having time off).

You must make a good wage. My salary taxes 8g's out of my gross pay. I usually get a refund....but then again I'm young in an entry level job with no kids and only a truck/apartment payment. I don't need a ton of money.

I think my problem is, other than a low mortgage interest, I have no other deductions (brats/wife/medical/school to deduct)...I'm claim 0/0 throughout the year and still almost always right a check on 4/15.

It still probably comes out cheaper to not have any of those things! haha.
I don't mind paying taxes, it helps our country run (sometimes). I try to only think about the take home pay with my own job or perspective one's. It allows me not to hate uncle sam.

I'm pretty sure you're correct as far as it being cheaper NOT having the extra expense. With all the waste and give away..."free" stuff I see I'm well past the not being angry part.

Just watched this hysterical yet annoying video. I watched a couple of these guys videos when deciding on what truck to buy. You can tell the guy in black driving is purposefully showing the crawl control as useless. He either has no idea how to rework where he's going to set the wheels or is purposefully doing so to plug other vehicles (i.e. ford raptor). At the same time, the short guy is so frustrated by him and just keeping a straight face for the cameras knowing it would have been a piece of cake in the pro to get over those obstacles.

skip forward to about 5 minutes

I'm the youngest of 3 at 26 years old. My father still says we're bleeding him dry, haha. I did have to ask for a little help this year with the truck (will be done paying him back in January). I almost bought a Frontier but he wanted me in a more reliable tacoma as much as I did. So he fronted me the little extra cash on the sales tax so I didn't have to add that to my loan.
Though my 31 year old brother still relies on him for car insurance, cell phone, medical copayments, and random help throughout the year. So i don't feel as bad being a mooching child, lol.

You know you'll mod away no matter what. the only thing you'd be missing out on is the cement.

Santa might still be listening to your wish! California is getting its much needed water to solve the drought. but it scares me all the time as i drive with people who don't know how to drive in the rain.

y'all can have all the rain you want. This time last year I was stuck in a hotel because my whole damn city was flooded in.

    Pictures I took

The green house you see near the top was washed away.
That is my High school and hometown in the majority of the first half of the photos.
Then the interstate and other areas.
